I´m merely curious to see how good your improvement was that you´re recommending this to everyone and taking such good care of this topic.
I have to agree with this. I´ve been using soap on my teeth for like 3 days only, but I found really amazing how some plaque that was building up is actually going away.
Do you use a mouthwash? Would you recommend using one, so that there´s at least some sort of hygiene in those places the tootbrush cannot reach? Or do you use baking soda or anything else as a mouthwash?
Also, even before you made this topic... like 11 days ago (if I remember correctly) I started washing my hair with baking soda... I did that only twice and then found this topic and bought a soap (it´s made of olive oil and has natural rose petals for fragance) and I used it, with a vinegar rinse instead of conditioner... and my hair is looking quite nice I must say. It´s kinda funny because it´s not as soft as with the usual shampoo and conditioner, but it´s been 3 days and only now my hair is starting to feel oily, as oposed to the usual 2 days before. I hope that, slowly, I can find a way to make it softer as well.

I've been trying this soap thing for about 3 days now, everything have been working great. I've even skip makeup cause I really like the feeling of leaving my skin bare. My face doesn't feel oily for almost the whole day. Usually I'll have to blot my face every few hours. My hair still clean after a long time.
But the thing I'm still not comfortable about is going out in the day without SPF...

From what I've read (from other types of "hair detox" regimens), it does feel a bit tackier than before because it's ridding of the chemicals that were on there before. I believe it's supposed to get better after the second week of use. I'm not positive though.

but I have a question: how do you care for the soap? You mention preventing it from "melting". Well, how do we do that? Do we need to keep the soap from getting wet at all? (That'd be kinda hard...) or do we dry it off somehow? I'm kind of confused. Basically my question is, how do we maintain our soap bar to use it as long as possible?
thanks so much for this thread, again

After you use it, put it into a vented soap dish (holes on the bottom) that way the water will be drained and it keeps your soap to minimal exposure to bacteria a such. I bought mine in Chinatown lol. As long as you dry it after each use, the bar will last pretty long.

Soooo, my toothpaste, and new shampoo/conditioner came yesterday. I used it and I do feel the difference between using shampoo with SLS and using organic with absolutely no harmful chemicals. It's awesome! Even though my hair felt extra tacky after washing it since I don't have my hair oil treatment yet, it was easy to air dry. I also tried the toothpaste. My teeth never felt so clean in the 1 year that I haven't gone to the dentist (though I need to go get my wisdom teeth taken out >__<'). I won't go back to commercial toothpaste ever again... which reminds me that I have to buy extra tubes from the site since i need some at college -__-'
The great thing about the products is that, I can actually see that it's made out of aloe vera. The consistency and how it looks really tells me that hey, they isn't just water with a splash of aloe vera.
I haven't tried the Olivia Care soap yet. Hopefully it's as good as all the other products I bought.

I actually read through all your posts in this thread, and was very informed. I tried going 3 days just water as suggested by EdwardCTV, and my skin has turned out a bit better. But for my interview I had to wash my face with cleanser so now I'm back to square 1.
Though I'd love to go on this soap and water routine, until I actually find the soap (here in Canada) I will start with just simplifying my routine.
It's too inconvenient for me to not use shampoo or conditioner for now, and I have thick hair so I don't mind hair falling out (I know that sounds horrible)
but what do you think of using pure aloe vera for face cleansing?
Right now I use Clean and Clear , it has benzoyl peroxide which I know isn't that great but so far it worked in getting rid of pimples.

Hey! I found Olivia Care's soap bar in London Drugs.. you may be able to get it there.. as for aloe vera as a cleanser, I think it's more for moisturizing.. but I'm not too sure..

You'll find that most doctors and dermatologists DISCOUNT soap in general, mostly thanks to the harmful, cheap soaps available commercially (which do aggravate skin problems). However, using a high quality, simply made Marseille or Castile bar/liquid soap is gentle and completely suited to cleansing the human body; for this reason, there are a lot of online testimonials from sufferers of eczema and psoriasis who switched to using good Soap and saw a lot of benefit and even disappearance of their skin suffering. It seems to me that many people suffering from eczema have adverse reaction to products containing glycerol (which is in almost every lotion/fragrance/cleanser) for the most part, and their sensitive, dry skin is only further aggravated by SLS/SLES.
You're right, all body washes are not bad (provided they don't have harmful ingredients). Not even all toothpastes are bad (the ones w/o glycerol and fluoride). But almost 100% of commercial, popular brands are. The safer options for products are much harder to find, are useful for only one purpose, and are usually more expensive to boot.
But bar soap is simple, inexpensive, flexible, and suited for... everything.
If you have eczema, you might want to try not using commercial toothpaste (which contains glycerol/glycerin/glycerine) and trying a good soap. You can find a decent Marseille soap that costs less than a drugstore face lotion and of quite hefty size.
I'm curious about your routine and the ingredients in the products you use. Would you mind posting about them, and your dermatologist's recommendations as well?
I generally just stay away from anything with the word soap since that what my doctor's advice. Essentially yes I do agree as I've learn tall this stuff from biology. I might be tempted to try these soaps. I live in the UK, is there anywhere I can purchase any of these high quality soaps? I haven't heard of these brands before.
My routine... just wash the face with plain water in the morning and I use the body shop seaweed facial cleanser at night almost everyday. I definitely have to use moisturiser after every shower or facewash because my skin becomes very dry. For the ingredients... I'll post that later since I'm not at home atm. My doctor just prescribes me creams and a body wash when it gets bad, but I shouldn't rely on them. Usually when I shower I just use plain water.

I've been using soap for awhile now (Kiss My Face Olive Oil bar soap works for me) and have been thrilled with the results. My teeth in particular have never felt so clean! And I have pretty clear skin as it is, but the blackheads I used to see around the nose area seem to have disappeared. I had to do multiple vinegar rinses on my hair at first, to get rid of the waxy silicone build-up, but now it feels soft and clean.
Just wanted to share an article I stumbled across, also advocating soap for hair instead of shampoo (although this author suggests the use of glycerine in small amounts):

I have another quick question, right now I am using edward's caveman method and I am using an oil cleanser to get rid of my sunscreen. Would it be okay to use soap instead of the oil cleanser? I'm afraid that the soap might be too basic for my skin.
