I use (Kinda forgot; it was a brand found in whole foods) brand soap
I have used this soap for (3-4) months
I have these specific problems/concerns with soap:
Made my hair waxy and dry. I no longer use soap for my hair because of this, I just scrub well with my natural conditioner and vinegar rinse once in a while if I start getting flaky/oily. Conditioner I use is with natural oils (trader joe's brand) and no synthetic chemicals except I think it contains parabens, but nothings perfect I guess. For how cheap it is, I can't find anything else that compares. I strongly recommend the vinegar rinse for people with dandruff and oil-y hair; it makes your hair feel SO clean and shiny.
I eat at least 5 servings of protein per day.
I haven't use "shampoo" or chemical conditioner for 3 years (there may have been a month where I tried it again but it was a horrible experience and I stopped
I use soap for the rest of my body, and once in a while for my face. I've always had EXTREMELY thick curly hair (not just wavy- I mean like actual ringlets) so I have to use some sort of gel to hold and I cannot comb when dry, I never lose that much hair. I use 100% aloe vera gel as the hold and sometimes a bit of olive oil if it needs some.

hm this sounds interesting. I think I want to try it
edit----
lol some more questions. So yeah, I'm interested in trying this out. For makeup, can I use cetaphil or ponds wipes? because that's what I do. And I actually don't use anything else other than water to rinse my face, which I guess is good.
And I have eczema so I have dry skin on my face. Is cetaphil or aveeno lotion okay? And what do you think of vaseline?

i have eczema too!
i just wash w/water. my skin became used to it, so now my skin is all nice and smooth. ^^
just let it go to its detox stage.
but do you have eczema ointment?
cuz the one i have would get rid of the eczema after a day you apply it.
so if you do, i suggest you put it on if your eczema seems to get out of control/feels bad.
then wash w/water.
if you get the soap, you could wash your face with it.
but i dont know about the washing off the makeup, cuz i dont wear it.
but the wipes might make your skin irritated and cause your eczema to react.
but, anyway, g'luck.

When I read eunbit's post I was like "WTH?? I live in Europe and I never knew they use natural soap here!!" Gosh, many do! I googled and there were many many postings and articled about the skin issue!
I've learned that our skin ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ACIDIC!!!!!! And the "acid mantle" is NOT an instrument of protection of the body. In fact, it's the product of exuding! That's why the skin of a baby is alkaline, not acidic! The human body needs to be alkaline in order to function well (which is why the amniotic fluid is alkaline) , which is why we need to exude acids from our body, e.g. via the skin--> skin becomes acidic.
Well, I googled and now I've found some places where I can buy natural soap in my city.
I'm gonna try using soap tomorrow...
candy, honey and money.

ahh I really want to try this out now, haha. If it works out for me i'm going to tell my doctor. I'm buying the soap this week and sometime later I'll post my experience for someone with year round eczema.

but hopefully you're not suggesting to use regular soap as face-wash, are you?
Cause that's horrible.
Regular soap completely strips the skin (of the face) of essential oils and drys it out,
which causes the skin (through homeostasis) to produce more sebum.
(my bad if you didn't say that at all, but if you did, you should probably research more before you recommend these types of methods to people)

lol there's a reason why you should read the post before posting then =]
but to save you the trouble, the answer is no. we're recommending to use non-commercial natural/organic soaps that don't have a huge load of chemicals in them
