um, i'm normally into the first option =/
i mainly shop at.. aritzia, french connection & guess. ^^
but i'm kinda breaking away from that a bit :3
well, i shop at like skate/surf/snowboard? stores XD
and.. well, the clothes i get from like asia + asian stores aren't very expensive =/
but i'm not into ae/a&f/hollister if that's what you're asking lol.
i mostly shop there for convenience =/ since it's what's mainly around me.. lol.
and i know the set up of the stores better. i'll shop pretty much anywhere =/

Is this another thread aimed at justifying expensive purchases and extravagant lifestyles? Most of the popular brands' clothing are made of the same material as "cheap clothes". I can't tell the difference between my Evisu genes and a pair of no-name brand I bought at Mervyn's.

what is the big deal? I fail to see a real question for this thread that hasn't been answered a million times over.

The brands I wear most of the time are expensive but not as popular (APC , Wings + Horns, Surface 2 Air etc..) . I like them because they make simplistic yet good quality clothing. Lets just say , you get what you pay for.I dont wear brands like Hollister or A&F(their clothing are so expensive for the quality of clothing they make that it doesnt justify it. Totally overhyped)

jeans = designer

tops= not designer

i buy from nordies, bloomingdales, onlien sites.. i'm a shoe fiend so i range from all sorts of prices...

same for my tops, they range but i do not spend more than 20 on a top (even that is too high =( )

i can or may not have 'designer' brands but for jeans yes they have to be a good brand =/

same for my bags before i used to scrmb around the sellign threads and buy crappy clothes and get weird stuff at the good will outlet.. i thought brand was everything... and tried hard to wear 'brand' name things even if they werent that cute jsut for the fact to say i have a nice brand shirt...

but over the years expecailly now.. i just wear clothes that i look good in . good brand or not =/ its jsut my jeans is what i have an issue with heh

My closet is 50% Abercrombie + Hollister >____< But my friends take me to an Abercrombie & Fitch Outlet so I never buy retail smile.gif except for 2 pairs of jeans >.<

the other 50%, I just buy whatever style I like. doesn't really matter if it's from urban outfitters, ross, small stores, pacsun, large corporations. My friend took me to Ross for the very first time & I got 3 ROXY HOODIES THAT I LOVE biggrin.gif YOU CAN FIND SOME PRETTY COOL THINGS AT ROSS! I was blown away! biggrin.gif I go to Macy's & I don't see anything I like o.o & its pricey too >.<

it depends on what catches my eye.
i have quite a lot of designer/popular brand name stuff,

I admit it- I like cheap clothes but I stay away from fad-trends that are hot only for the season. I think this is because I'm still in the whole high school/university transition stage and I'm torn between flashy clothes and more professional clothes sad.gif cheap stuff let's me try out both.

i tend to look at popular brands more,
but i end up just getting what i like regardless of the brand.
however, i always get expensive/designer and cheap/no-name stuff all on sale.
i haven't bought anything at regular price since...??
*except for stores that aren't really known for sales like f21

Each item is different for me. I could really care less what kind of brands/designer made clothes I have (tops, jeans, dresses, jackets, shoes). The style, quality, and its effect on my body are my priorities--unless it's an important occasion and I want to flash a BCBG or Jovani dress xD!

The only thing where I really consider designer label are hand bags, but it's not that big of a deal to me since I only have a few main bags that I really want. Not all of Burberry, LV, & Gucci bags are nice.

Hopefully everyone can realize that brands are not everything, it's the style & quality that matters.

Though I must admit, (I don't consider these stores brand names, but) I probably would not buy anything from Abercrombie, Hollister, or Papaya mainly due to their style, quality, & price.

materialistic? -- almost.

Just depends on the quality of the item and how much I love it at first site. I do take brand into consideration of course. I'd much rather plop down $850 for a Gucci or LV bag versus buying a dozen cheap non-label bags. But as for Trend-Of-The-Moment stuff, I'd rather find a deal. It'll barely be worn more than 3x so why spend so much on it? Classic jewelry like pearls, diamonds, and time pieces are worth the splurge. Costume jewelry can be bought on the cheap. Cashmere is worth it. So is the perfect fitting peacoat. Gotta love those Burberry winter accessories. And those 5 for $25 VS panties haha. On any given day you can find me at H&M, or Saks, or online shopping. I like to think I have a good balance when it comes to shopping. Labels arent everything when it comes to fashion. Plus I hate having the same top as any other chick on the street. the less known the label the better when it comes to tops or dresses.

For jeans, I wear premium denim. I wear Rocks, True Religion, Diesel, 7FAM, a few pairs of Japanese denim, and I have one pair of Nudies that I wear normally to break them in. In high school, I used to wear A&F jeans and AE jeans. But I went through so many of them because they always stretched out after a few washes and they faded. I learned quality matters more.
For casual tops, I usually wear Threadless tees, C&C California and A&F shirts. A&F is popular, but the material it uses is soft.
Shoes, I usually wear chucks and Vans.

I moved on from the mall brands like forever 21, AE, aero, etc. because even though they're cheap, the quality isn't there. I hate throwing clothes away after 5 washes.

I buy most of my clothes from lower-mid range price stores. because I'm poor as hell I can't afford designer clothing Lol. but if I do see something I like that is a little more pricy I would save up for it. just not all the time. I'll probably go for more expensive, designer items after I graduate hahaha.

I stick to stores like H&M, Zara for now =D
oh, also vintage, thrift stores!!!

My clothes range from cheap to expensive.

- Tops I get bored of easy so I usually go for cheap. I'm willing to go more expensive when the style/cut is pretty unique or I know I will get a lot of wear out of it. I don't see the point in getting that plain white 100% cotton C&C top.

- Trendy items like waist belts and certain cuts like a bubble skirts/dresses, definitely cheap.

- Dresses and skirts are my weaknesses lol. But keeping in mind that I really only have a few months to wear it, I go low to middle price. My max is about $50-70CAD and to spend something like the material has to be thick enough so I can keep wearing it into early fall and late spring but it won't be too hot in the summer.

- Bottoms are a mix. I have designer jeans that make my leg and butt look amazing that I wear for special but casual events and when I feel like being dressy. I also have my cheap jeans that I won't feel bad wearing out, this is for when I'm at school running from class to class and on bummy days outside. Dress pants are cheap because I really only wear them for job interviews.

- Shoes are the one thing my mom has told me to splurge on. Partly I have to anyway because not a lot of low/mid end shoes come in a size 5. But I think shoes are important because you only have one pair of feet that take so much pressure every day. That being said, you can get away with cheaper shoes as long as there are good material but usually I have to get proper support for it.

I think there are some things worth splurging on: a pair of nice heels, the perfect jean, a cashmere sweater and a coat. It kind of hurt me, but I am so glad I bought my cashmere/wool coat which keeps me so warm in the Canadian winter. My H&M part wool has just been in my closet waiting for spring.
