I should have started studying for my permit a long time ago but I never got to it. Either that, or I didn't know how to start. wacko.gif I live in California by the way. Anyone want to direct me down a path for a permit?

Study your book. Pay attention to any specific details or instructions. Such as stopping, lane change procedures, etc.

So if I just study a book, will I be good to go for the permit test?

Studying the book is good enough. Just remember to study the signs too. There's usually 2-3 sign questions on the written test - well at least in NY.

The California DMV website has sample questions you can test yourself with. To be honest a few of those questions reappear exactly or slightly different on the actual test. I know because I took the permit test twice (once because I let the permit expire and the second to renew). There also tends to be two or three questions pertaining to the new laws ammended mentioned in the book (not sure where to find it).

Make sure you study the book and do the sample questions (tutorial too).

Its been at least 6 years since it took that permit test.

first how old are you. if you are 17 just wait a year and you dont have to spend money going to driving school. now if your 16 then you might want to spend a little cash to go to driving school. well i got my permit when i was 15 and got my licence when I was 16.

you really dont need to study. the driving school should tell you what every sign means and how to start the car and everything.

I took my permit test... wow, 4 1/2 years ago, and in Virginia. But Virginia has the strictest driving laws in the nation, and I had to take it at 8am, hahaha. Just read the book and you'll be fine, it really isn't that hard. You'll be fine, a few days of book study is all it really takes =)
