I love this girl, she is so cute and innocent looking, enjoyed her hana yori dango dramas&movie, first time i tried dramas that is another language for me from Korean. She triggered my interest in japanese dramas now, i like to know some more recommended dramas/movies from her and other popular actresses.

Is Inoue Mao, popular in Japan? how is her reputation?

she's pretty popular in Japan. here reputation is awesome. not much negative news on her.
Another jdrama of her I recommend is First Kiss

there are many popular japanese actress on top of my head I can remember: Erika Toda, Aya Ueto, Maki Horikita, etc

If you want a drama by Inoue then I recommend you with First Kiss, just like somebody above me said. Honestly I didn't like this drama that much, but we all have different taste and so I think you should try it first. That's the only other drama that I watched from her.

Yeah she is rather really famous now, because of the role she got in HYD.

I can recommend you other actresses and dramas they were in which are my personal favorite like: Aragaki Yui(Koizora the movie), Erika Toda(she was also in HYD second season, Ryusei no Kizuna, Death Note), Ayase Haruka(Hotaru no Hikari), Nagasawa Masami(Proposal Daisakusen, Last Friend), Aya Ueto(Attention Please, Celep to binbo), Ueno Juri(Nodame Cantabile) and Horikita Maki(she's not really my favorite but yeah she is really famous and have good drama like Hana Kimi, you should totally watch it). There are many more but I just can't think of them at the moment, anyways feel free to try these drama I recommend you and see if you'd like it.

Mao is actually underated. Because the style of HYD is different, it doesn't show her potential in acting. She's pretty good in jpn comedy, but First Kiss and Hotaru no Haka (personal favorite) showed a different side of her as an actress

You can also check out Anmitsu Hime. Inoue Mao plays a tomboy princess. Her role in this drama sp is kind of similar to her role as Makino Tuskushi.

She has been acting since 1992. She's one of the few really good ones out there to the point that I kind of believe she would rock any role. Probably due to the popularity of HYD, she was #2 during the last U-25 femal idol survey, right next to Ueto Aya. Unlike other female idols who juggle stuff like singing, modelling and acting, she focuses a lot on the latter. She isn't also as visible because she is now on her graduating year in Meiji University. She has an upcoming melodrama though and I am pretty sure she would do a lot of stuff once she finishes school.

I loved her in Hotaru no Haka, really sassy. Her dual roles just showed her acting prowess. But isn't she also the leading lady in the movie Gegege no Kitaro with Wentz Eiji? I heard that was a hit.

Mao's pretty popular for being a private person with nice social skills. She is known for easily being friends with her co-stars. Matsumoto Jun was known for being cold and aloof, but she got through him, so I guess that speaks a lot. I do know they hang out outside work at least. Same thing with Oguri Shun, Wentz Eiji and Hiraoka Yuuta. Plus, she isn't tabloid fodder so she's got the squeaky clean image down.

First Kiss, for me, really showed Inoue's acting prowess. she's bratty, wicked/vicious but she's also vulnerable and sensitive. she's able to showcase different personalities in one. it was actually my choice dorama when almost everyone else would pick HanaKimi. the very good acting of the whole casts made up for a somewhat lacklustre plot/writing. do try it if you have patience.

for me, Inoue is probably one of the few versatile actresses in her generation.

edit: as for another recommedation: Hanaikusa
haven't watched it yet but my friend said it's really good. if you're interested in geisha, check it out. Inoue plays a young maiko, geisha-in-training, which is actually adapted from the story of the same geisha whom Memoirs of a Geisha was loosely based.

I have visited her official site and I have seen that she has a lot of news and she has movie but I am waiting for her drama with Arashi Ninomiya...I do like Jun and Mao but I think she has chemistry too with Ninomiya....They look so good together !!!

Oooohh! I love Mao Inoue too.
She's definitely one of the most talented and cutest Japanese actresses around.
Unfortunately, the only drama of her I've ever watched was HYD and she's pretty good in it.

Filming for 'Kinkyuu Special Kyuumei Byotou 24 Ji ～Kyuumeii ・ Kojima Kaede～' ended a few days ago!!
It's the first time she's appeared together with her senpai in the agency, Matsushima Nanako-san, since 'Hana Yori Dango 2 (Returns)'!
Those who have checked out TV magazines might already know but Mao-san has a student nurse role♪
It will be broadcast on 4 August (Tuesday) at 9 o'clock on Fuji TV!!

Otomen was in the middle of filming in the studio next door.
So of course, we went to see Okada Masaki-kun!

It was such a heartwarming scene!!
