:::burn Calories While Sitting/being Lazy?::: are there specific sitting positions that can burn calories?

I hope this isn't a repost... but I have a question.

I spend so much time on my ass it's not even funny anymore. sweatingbullets.gif

Are there any specific sitting positions that can burn great amounts of calories/fat at the same time?

For example, does sitting with your legs crossed, or with your feet up on the table burn more calories as opposed to just sitting normally??

but honestly, if you want to burn calories while being lazy, i dont think your going to burn much.
If you really want to, get out and exercise. Being lazy will get you nowhere, trust me, i just got my final exam results ;]

Work out more and you will eventually burn more calories when you're not active (such as sitting, standing, etc) b.c muscles help you burn calories.

Sitting puts your body in a stasis... blood moves slower, brain works slower (after long times and if you aren't stimulating it), and so on. Eating peppers stimulates your metabolism, and celery actually legitimately takes more calories to eat and break it down than it provides. So stuff some celery with peppers, sit in the V-Sit or L-Sit positions, and have at it!

the only thing i can think of is if u jerk your legs while u sit, you're building more leg muscle...slowly...


i do it because it's a habit, and i want to stop lol

can't really answer about sitting positions but if you're a fidgety person (spinning your pen, moving your feet, etc) you can burn slightly more calories. chewing gum also helps, i think i heard somewhere if you chew gum regularly, and maintain your current eating habits, you'll have lost 11 lbs by the end of the year ^^

but 30-60 mins of exercise burns much much more than that and it might help with the laziness too ^^

you can flex certain parts of your body? like your butt/thighs/abs etc. and do intervals?
sit up straight... if you hav one.. stability balls help improve your abs and back just by sitting on it (probably very little.. but it's better than just sitting on a normal chair tongue.gif)
or you could buy weights that go around your feet and around your arms and just walk around in them for the time your at home.. it works if your super super busy..

emm... and sip cold water.. it forces your body to keep itself warm.. and this way... your metabolism will be somewhat higher..

nonetheless you burn calories doing almost anything, just that it won't be a lot.

I dont think theres anything that burns alot of calories while "being lazy" or sitting. Try jogging on the spot while watching your favorite movie or go outside and play soccer with your cousins or something. ^^

Yeah, you're gonna have to actually get up and exercise. I suppose clenching and unclenching your muscles can burn off some calories, but it's very insignificant.

It's like taking away a drop of water from the ocean--technically the volume does decrease, but it doesn't make a difference in the grand scheme of things.

Chew gum. You burn about between 10-12 calories per hour. Since a stick of gum is about 10 calories, After the first hour, it will become effective lol. Be sure not to add a new piece of gum into your mouth, cuz thats just another extra 10 calories haha. Chew the same old flavorless gum for hours on end!
