I don't drink so I have no opinion on drinking... But from what I've seen, drinking until you're so poopfaced that you can't even talk right seems stupid (to me). And I hate people criticizing me for not drinking -- I just don't like drinking, I'm not trying to act superior or anything like that sleep.gif

I disagree. You know what is stupid? Drinking and driving. Now that is stupid. I rather have a person throwing up and passing out then having their drunk ass driving.

I'm fine with drunk people as long as they don't do 2 things: violate/molest people and drive. If they don't do those 2 things, then they can go ahead and get john teshing wasted all they want.

EDIT: I only drink for occasions. (And I still agree with my above statements.) So why do I get drunk? Because I drank alcohol....and because it was a friend's reunion party......honestly I don't know how to answer that question, because it's pretty much self-explanatory. But I haven't got drunk for awhile now. I'm not sure if I should take it as a good thing or bad thing. Don't worry babes, I drink plenty of water. You make it seem like we drink alcohol with every meal. (Now that I'd be worried about.)

Though I will admit that Asian American/men have the highest percentage of liver disease.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

I use to go drinking with my friends often. We would go to clubs and never thought of how others would perceive us when we were loud and rambunctious. After going to Seoul on New Years, I can see why Koreans find being loud and obnoxious for the sake of acting that way is unacceptable. Other foreigners were throwing garbage everywhere and yelling out profanity around children in what I can only imagine as an attempt of being cool. So when the behavior becomes obstructive to other peoples' rights I find it a bit agitating. Another example from this weekend. A guy was so belligerently drunk that he stumbled off the sidewalk into a street vendor's area, knocking into a small child, making him knock his head into the counter and begin to cry.

I became stumbling drunk after a welcoming party and have not drank to that extent ever since. Soju has an unfavorable taste now. My point is if a person can behave in a manner that is respectful to those around them, I think it is fine, but once it crosses the line of endangering others or causing discomfort then it is irreprehensible.

I like to have a drink or two (a Newcastle Ale with dinner is fantastic on occasion), but I never liked the feeling of being drunk. I really don't like the sort of out-of-control feeling you get when you're drunk, so I'll have a beer or two, wine, even scotch now and again, but never enough to get drunk.

It depends on how drunk...

I drink and like to get a little under drunk but past being buzzed, i just like to feel wavy...

Getting drunk where you hurt others or yourself is too drunk whether that be in the form of drunk driving, verbal/physical abuse, etc. Getting tipsy is alright or really tipsy, so long as you are still capable of thinking, rationalizing, and being conscious to feel the effects of alcohol.

Edit: Alcohol is an escape cause sometimes you need one just like going to bed and waking up forgetting or putting aside the things that made you irritable throughout the day.

i think theres a line between drunk and buzzed ...

for my self i enjoy getting a little buzzed , not for any outer apearance reason or anything ,
i just like the state i more easily get in when i have a couple of beers.

i think at one point in your life, you have that seriously bad drunken night following that hangover wich you will never forget , and that is what will define how you drink in the future.
hehe i had it and because of it i havent gotten "drunk" in years.

Its not about how many times you fall, its about how you pick yourself up again.

Its fun but if your smashed to the point where your on the floor passed out, that is not fun. I drink to get 'buzzed' because I do find it enjoyable.

I don't mind if a person is drunk so long as he/she isn't loud, violent or taking on other forms of stupid behaviors. Some times people don't realize their own limit (like they could end up drunk after 2-3 bottles) but for those who are simply binge drinking, I won't pretend to know why. Personally though I hate hangovers more than I enjoy drinking so I stop when my body's telling me I should.

I don't like drinking heavy anymore but for special occassions I still do it but not as often as I do when I was a kid. IDK if it's fun or stupid that's more like a judgement call or an opinion where the answer will depend on that person's view.

I'm not a big drinker but sometimes when I haven't been out in awhile (swamped with exams, work, etc) I'd love to just go out with my friends and get drunk and let off some steam..while it's all great fun the night of those tequila shots and rounds of goose+tonic, the next morning reminds me why I don't drink often sleep.gif

I don't drink alcohol at all because I don't see the point nor do I enjoy the effect. I could care less about what others think about it either. cool.gif

Honestly, I don't drink alcohol because I don't see the point. I don't condone it for others if they want to have a drink every once in a while, but getting drunk, especially people who purposefully do so, I find less attractive and not appealing whatsoever. I also despise people that go "I got SO WASTED last night!" It's like, why should I care? Is that something to be proud of? Anyone that cares about their body or wants to stay healthy should know better. Also getting drunk doesn't just mean looking out for yourself, it's looking out for those people around you. I've seen plenty of people's friendships and relationships end badly because of excessive drinking.

And people who drink every single day or get drunk often obviously have some other issues happening in their life and they're using alcohol as a source of escapism and relief.

I don't drink much alcohol anymore nowadays.

As I've mentioned somewhere before on another thread, I'm much more conscious now of the time traveling effects that occur when I drink too much.

Sure. But my worn-out Fleshlight is not exactly what I would call a "hermit-torch". With that said, I doubt derrek would even want it. unsure.gif

Oh man, sorry about your friend. I hope s/he recuperates quickly and takes it a little bit easy. ^^;

I'm a lot nicer when I've had a couple drinks. I really hate crowds (I tend to get violent when people keep invading my personal space, even when they don't really have a choice) and get a little anxious around strangers, so I get buzzed for house parties or when my friends want to celeberate special events in bars.

I spent a semester in Ireland, and after a while my alcohol tolerance was through the roof (I'd only drunk once before studying abroad). There were two pubs on my campus alone, and the university used to give student organizations extra money so members could go drinking on the uni's tab. There was a whole week dedicated to just dropping all your books and getting wasted, and it's not like the curriculum was terribly strenuous or anything. It was fantastic.

Then I came back to America and hardly touched a drop, so now I'm good for the night after three or four Mike's Hard Lemonades or other similar pansy drinks laugh.gif

Anyway, point being, obviously I condone a little social drinking. And some societies out there think you're a little weird if you don't drink at all, because the bloody Irish learn to drink practically when they learn to walk, and will make you look like a light drinker no matter how bad you think you are -- and in six months I haven't seen them be stupid about it. I've wandered downtown Cork at 2 in the morning and it's dead silent. Everyone just keeps things inside their homes or in the pubs, and don't go rolling into the street with their fistfights and their projectile vomit and force the cops to shut down main streets to prevent lushes getting squished by traffic like Americans in college towns. It just depends on how you handle it.
