Be direct. Tell him or her that you have zero interest in them regarding a romantic relationship. It will, of course, be painful for the receiver of this news. However, it is the most effective way to communicate your lack of interest. Whether or not the friendship remains in tact is questionable. If the two of you are mature enough, it shouldn't be a problem.

just make it clear verbally. tell them you will never feel that way about them.

then ask if its possible for them to take that and still be friends.

if they say no, its just unfortunate and theres nothing more you can do.

If they tease you in a flirty, try not to 'play along'.

Yeah, stop flirting with your friends, then they won't like you.
Talk to your guy friends the same way u talk to your girl friends.
The tone and expression matters. Because he could be falling for your smile.
Open your eyes O_O ..

Don't lead them on and make sure you don't hang out with only them until they get the idea.
Or mention to them how "great of a FRIEND" they are or how you like having a "FRIEND just like" them.
Lol.
Or if they try to bring it to the next level, just tell them that you only see them as a friend.

*edit; unless... that counts as flirting too.

tell them.. its better than having him or her thinking that your actions make them feel that they are inn to you.
or .. diss them.. but thats harsh.

I was actually thinking about the same question a couple days ago. One of my guy friends who confessed that he liked me a year ago ended up confessing to me AGAIN even after I did everything to make sure that he knew I only saw him as a friend. I treated him like how I treated all my guy and girl friends, no flirting, acting gross (I'd even show him the food in my mouth LOLL I know this sounds eww but my friends do that alot ><). I even rejected him when he tried to dance with me at the club (that may have been kinda harsh but I kinda felt the need to at that point..)

He still ended up confessing to me again the day after and I had to tell him the exact same thing I told him a year ago Dx

The reason we like someone is because either, they act diff. towards you [with more affection], they aren't just another person, we let our imagination get ahead of us [love sick], etc.
_you could just disappear from each others' lives.

the one you probably long to hold in your arms so much saying "lets just stay a pole length away for the rest of our lives." is asking a bit much. i would think.

it'd be like how prisoners are on the opposite side of the glass to their loved ones they betrayed, but still visit them before execution.
_staying friends is hard . the person who has the unrequited love must build up some sort of wall of denial. cos i don't believe feelings can die once they're born.

prevention techniques, as people have suggested, -to me- seem to prove a stronger bond. don't you think?

I agree with mentioning them to be a friend.
Or possibly as family.
Once I hung out with this guy a lot, but to make it clear to him that i wasn't interested in that way i called him my dongseng (younger sibling). i think it worked.
There was a girl...
Who's 411 you had to visit.

pick ur nose in front of them..
fart.
do something really gross and then ask them if they get grossed out coz you have the tendency to be very liberal around people ur close to (like ur bf).... or do embarassing stuff in front of their friends.

i unfortunately have this happened to me a few times, I was only trying to be friendly and they end up liking me. What I usually do is nicely say I don't see you that way and I only see you as a friend. Then I ignore them for a while so they can get over me, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. One time a good friend of mines said he liked me and we actually talked it out and agreed that it was best for us to be friends only and we're still friends to this day.

Don't lead them on. Don't play along. Don't make them feel EXTRA special. sweatingbullets.gif
