hello all! well the spring semester is starting soon, and as usual, textbook prices are ridiculously high T_T i was wondering if any of you guys have used chegg.com for textbook rentals? i've read some reviews on the net and it seems like they have really bad customer service and horrible delivery times, and the textbooks arrived in bad shape as well. BUT, their price is so much cheaper than what i can get in my bookstore or even used books >_O however, im debating whether if i should risk waiting forever for a textbook to arrive, and end with no choice but to buy a new textbook =__=

those who have used this site's service, please share your experiences!! thank you smile.gif

i used them and the delivery time was just fine. allow yourself about a week before leaving for school to get the books (or have them delivered to your dorm, etc) the books i got were in very good condition - there was some highlighting, but that's about it. they charge fees if you return the book in a bad condition. just make sure you return the book before the due date, or you'll have to pay fees and your credit might be hit >_>

the only problem i had with them was at the end; i had returned my books and the site kept saying my books were NOT returned and i kept getting this automatic phone call from them (it was a machine) telling me that my account was overdue and if i didn't send them in my credit would take a hit. i was like wtf and settled that immediately. they like to apologize, hahah.

my friend used that website, and it took over a month for the book to come in ><
maybe hers was a special case though?

Omg, for me, their customer service is WONDERFUL!! Haha, life savers.

I've used Chegg with my boyfriend's family. We actually got some books that were brand new and only like, one or two used at all. It came in in time for our classes. tongue.gif

One of our books actually never came in, so we sent an email and they took it off our account. Shipping back was easy too, just get a box and put it in with the thing you printed out. biggrin.gif

I'd prolly do it this next semester if I even need my class books. sweatingbullets.gif

Eh? I just check out the website and look through a couple of books. From what I observe, the service is pretty expensive. You might be better off buying the books online at amazon, ebay, cheaptextbooks.com, etc. Once you're done with the book and the semester is over you can always sell the book back and get at least 60% of your money back. You have to sell it back immediately though since you don't want a newer edition to come out.

On some books, I have to agree, but at times Chegg is really the cheapest option and selling books can really be a pain in the butt, especially if you have a whole bunch of books. sleep.gif
