I have to dispute this claim of being able to receive this KBS channel over-the-air. I have a digital tuner (ATSC) flat-screen and a fairly powerful VHF/UHF antenna on a twelve foot mast. I live in Queens, NY which is about 16 miles from the Newton, NJ transmitter. I've set my tuner to scan a number of times. I can get channel 63 from Newton, NJ and on a good day I get a decent signal. As far as I can tell, there is no channel 63.5 or 63-5 for WMBC. The channel scanner doesn't detect it and I can't manually tune it either. I spent about an hour fiddling around and came up with a blank. I think the scanning detected surrounding channels 60 and 66, but there was nothing detectable in-between except for channel 63 which had no substations. Channel 63 is an analog signal. My setup pulled dozens of other stations, both digital HD and analog.
So unless somebody on this forum has seen this 63.5 KBS WMBC station or knows somebody that has, using an over-the-air antenna, I really have my doubts this is true. I'm sure my setup would have detected something unless they're transmitting a really weak signal. Maybe it's possible they haven't started broadcasting that digital signal yet.
Please let me know or offer me any other suggestions.
