So just wondering that lets say your S.O., friend, or even ex, is drunk, can you take the things they say as the truth. Or can anything said while drunk can be sort of pushed under the rug, due to the influence of alcohol. I guess to put it simply, is their any truth to what people say about or to you when they are under the influence of alcohol?

I can't give you a solid answer. I know, for a fact, that I have gotten black out, smashed out, tanked out drunk before and told some guy that I was absolutely nuts about him. The problem was I wasn't and I have no idea why I would ever say something like that to him because I don't. In fact, I didn't even remember I said that to him and I still don't because he had to call me up and tell me what I'd said to him a couple of days later. Then I wondered why drunk me did that to sober me because I now had to deal with this guy who was absolutely crazy over me.

But sometimes I don't lie when I'm drunk and sometimes being drunk can actually push me to be quite truthful. However, I'd have to say that most people get quite rosy when they get drunk and everything they say (usually) has a rosier, friendlier touch to it. Unless that person is known to be a violent/angry drunk, I would have to say that there is an exaggerated edge to most things drunkards say.

i think it's not so much the words that are truthful of a drunk person as much as one's persona. people are loose when drunk. they are more reactive and proactive. inner tendencies will come out, and people will act upon those instincts. what those people say may be truth, or may not be. those are taken case by case tongue.gif

My boyfriend said this one,
This is not the drink talking. I love you. I don't know what I'd do without you.

I'm just saying he was being truthful. ;] But yeah I've came out with some sh!t in my time, under the influence, but also 80% my mouth just spills the truth out.
I told my friend exactly what I thought of him...
"You're a great man. You'll go far. You'll go very far. Live long and prosper!"
and I believe he is, and will. XD

Depends on the person, really.

Alcohol slows brain processes, prevents clear action, and essentially plays games on the entire brain. You can never trust what people say in alcohol, sometimes it's true, sometimes they let out what's really deep down, and sometimes they just plain lie. Never a good idea to take it to heart. At the same time, if someone is stupid enough to get so drunk they say awful things, when they're sober again and apologize, kick em to the curb. If they get so drunk they can't remember saying or doing awful things, they don't need to be hanging around you!

You can believe it or don't. Depends on yourself and the person.

I don't have a straight answer for that. Sometimes I will straight out tell people to their face all the things I have kept secret, especially if it is someone I did not like. But then a few times, I have told guys I think they are nice/cute/hot, etc, and not mean it even a little. I think when you are drunk, you are just lost in your mind.. there is no way to tell what you'll say!

As the saying goes, a drunk man never lies.

haha when someone is drunk the chemicals make their way up to the brain
and they get all mixed up in their. Then they lose the sence in your brain
to shut the hell up. In other words self control. Thats why drunk people do crazy things.
Same goes when the drunk person is speaking.

Their is a scientific way to explain it but im not Einstein here LOL.

Just like when they're not drunk, they can lie or tell the truth. The alcohol just loosens their tongue up and impairs their judgment, so you may hear some bizarre mini cooper.

The guys spew crap when they're drunk.
Like dating final fantasy chicks and night elves.

Which I suppose is the truth.

Depends on the person and what kind of drunk they are.
Some people are just purely retarded drunks and say anything because... well, they're drunk.

try talking non-stop for a minute.
and tell me how many parts of that were vague or untrue.

o_O' what comes into your mind isn't necessarily true... i could think that the sea is red for one second.
being drunk could probably make me blurt it out.

but hey.. i don't plan on touching the stuff. that's just my theory on what lands i haven't stepped on.

I've dropped some serious bombshells in an enebriated state of personage many a time, mini cooper that I would never dare utter under non alcoholic cricumstances. I tend to speak more freely when off my face and sure most of it's inane my happy poopoo about hats and coats, but sometimes there's a real veracity to my words.

So I guess there's a series of variables as to whether truth can be construde from drunken inane ramblings. In other words, it all depends really.

I think there's got to be some sort of truth. Even if it's totally bizarre, it might have passed their minds at one point, right? So though it may not be the truth, it is something that that person consciously or unconsciously thinks of.

Well I was wondering if it's the same when people are high...? blink.gif

This girl after smoking something (reeked) came up to me at this party (that she and her friends kind of clumsily crashed) and was like "damn you, you're so fuc*king pretty! I hate you... Want some munchies?" (referring to who knows what.)

I called my ex before when I was drunk and I told her I missed her. But I wasn't totally tanked. I was aware of thinking about it, but I thought it was a good idea. Then the next morning I regretted it.

There are a lot of times I lie when I'm drunk.
And times when I say the truth as well.
It ALL DEPENDS! Predicting whether someone's lying or not when he/she is drunk is as hard as when they're sober. Alcohol does not influence people's truth-telling factor. tongue.gif
