so i have this guy friend and we're sort of close. We're not that close to each other anyway, compared to other girls whose guy friends sometimes call everyday. My guy friend and i just talk on the phone around once every four to five days, and we hang out once every two weeks or so...thats like friend status. So i was telling him i was interested in this guy etc and then he said "i'm going to stop hanging out with you and calling you if/when you get a b/f". I was surprised, because what we're doing aren't that close anyway. Calling each other once every couple days and hanging out once every two weeks or so is completely friend status..i think even if i get a b/f, we can still do that kind of stuff. What do you guys think?

im guessing maybe your friend doesnt want to interfere with your relationship

Only kidding. Sure, there is a possibility that he's interested in you, and he wants you to make him the priority (i.e. not pursue a relationship with the guy you like), or he may just be a very courteous boy/man, and figures that your future s/o might not exactly approve of having such a close male acquaintance. Of course, your future s/o might not mind at all, but your friend could be taking precautions.
As mentioned, you should have just asked him the reason behind his words after he said that.

I understand where your guy friend is coming from. He probably don't want to distract you from your relationship and may not want your future bf to assume that he is trying to hit on you. I have a group of friends, one always end up liking the other person. My guy friend Chris likes Kristen, and he told her that if she does end up dating someone then he would eventually have to back off (btw, they have a very good relationship). He doesn't want Kristen's future bf to assume that something is going on.

I probably would say the same thing to my guy friend if he was to pursue a relationship later on. I would not constantly want to hang out with him if his gf might think that I like him or something. =S
