Can I still return something to the store if I opened the box [really ugly way, too]? I bought the case but realized it's for the 1G when I have a 2G.

It depends on the store. On the receipt at the bottom, it should say 7 day refund policy or something similar.
Usually if you still have the box, little paper/card description of product, and the case looking very new, you should be able to get your money back.
Even if you tore the box badly, it shouldn't really matter as long as you've got all the important parts of the product there.
