So, before I was planning on going to FIDM and major in Merchandise Marketing and become a Buyer but I gave up on that and now I want to pursue a career on becoming a makeup artist. I was wondering if anybody in Soompi is going to a makeup artist or already is one.
I've been researching on schools and I liked All About Face Academy in Los Angeles.
But I don't want to pay a lot of money and say that I don't want to do this anymore, so I was planning on going to a community college in my area. (Fullerton Community College) They had programs (Cosmetology) but Cosmetology mainly deals with hair and a little bit on makeup. They also had Esthetician classes but that's mainly on skincare. Where should I contact in the school to talk about this??

I attend FIDM and currently majoring in graphic design.
My sister went to Westmore Academy in Burbank, for make up school. She seemed to really like it. Right now, she's a freelance make up artist. If you want to be a MUA, you have to have the heart to motivate yourself. It's really hard to find jobs. Trust me, building a portfolio is the first step as well as trying to find a job for a day. Plus, make up alone is freakin expensive.
Sorry, I can't help you with other schools but I think if you want to enroll, just request information, fill it out, and an adviser will find you. Unless you just call the school for an adviser.

yeah im totally freaking out..cuz i have a habit of doing something and then quitting (piano, swim, cello, fidm, art, ballet) so im thinking really hard this time!
ooh i checked it out! and im not trying to be picky but the school ends at 5:30 pm! and AAF Academy starts at 9 and end at 3. The Westmore school seems to have a lot of connections and is very respectable in that sense. Thanks for the advice! =]
I think I would never try to be a freelance cuz ur gonna have to do a lot of networking and stuff. I would probably try to work at Sephora or MAC or any other beauty salons first. =]

Make Artists have to network.
I have to tell you that the make up industry is SMALL. It's survival of the fittest. Everyone knows everyone--that's how the industry is still alive today.
You won't find jobs that easily. It's all about networking because if a friend of yours (who's a make up artist also) can't make it to a job, they'll contact you to attend instead. They would recommend you.
Even if you work at Sephora or MAC, recommendations are required for the knowledge of your make up skills.
