hey guys i am going to an international college soon ... but the thing is i am afraid to share a room with another girl... as i have many valuable stuffs i am afraid that my stuffs might get stolen... is it possible that i request to stay alone? and do i have to bring extra lock incase of break in ??? thx guys...

Most colleges will put you with a roommate. But they're probably not going to put you with a criminal.

some colleges have the option of having a single room instead of a double. it costs more though, but if you're really against having a roommate, that might be your best bet. i understand how you feel though. but honestly, i think it's better not to bring along anything that is expensive or anything you're afraid might get stolen in the first place.

Of course you can request to have a single, but be mindful that most colleges try to pair up those in dormitories. Another option is finding a small apartment near campus but you would be just as likely to have bad things happen there as you would in the dormitory. Like the previous poster try not to bring expensive items with you. Bring the basics and a few comfort items.

U can rent an apartment and live alone near the college.

Different college has different dorm... it depends which college u go too..
if its a prestigeous one, then im sure they have.

how bout you just don't take your valuables? i wouldn't be worried about theft as much as your roommate asking to borrow them and losing/damaging them. i dont think you should compromise dorm life. it's where you'll meet lots of good friends and have some real fun times. leave your valuables behind. buy cheap stuff. college is about growin up. bling bling can come after you graduate and make a living.

basically, like a couple of people have already stated, you can request a single room. i'm not sure if they offer this at the college you're attending, but they do at mine. so yeah. basically, since you're so worried about your precious designer items, you can either request a single room OR live in your own apartment off campus. save the girl you might be living with some grief.

third option...well, just leave some of your stuff at home. you don't have to leave all of it, but just some.

and oh, another suggestion for the OP: why don't you just go to a local college then, if they have one in your area?

you can request for a single room. when you do your housing packet they will ask you if you want single, double, or triple. if you school has it. i know UCI has a hall that has 60 singles. (:

No offense, but that's a really lame reason for not wanting a roommate. If all you care about is your "high class" things getting stolen then you might as well rent an apartment or a condo OR! better yet just not go to school. It seems that your things are much more important than anything else since that's all you seem to boast about.
