i'm using vista

how do you change what your desktop icons look like? instead of a folder, i want another picture (like a lollypop or w/e). how do you change it?
i saved a picture onto my desktop but when i tried to customize a folder and browsing my desktop for pictures, the picture file didn't show up.

and

can you password protect folders? (my photos) when someone clicks on it, they have to enter a password to open the folder?

okay, any help would be appreciated.

thanks smile.gif

I used to hate Vista with a passion. But after using it for a while, it's not so bad. ;D

Anyway, that was kind of irrelevant.

To change icons
Is the picture file an .ico file? It has to either end with .ico or .exe for it to work.

Right click the icon you want to change->Click properties->Navigate to the 'customize' tab->Click 'change icon'->Click 'browse'->Navigate to your icon file (picture.ico)
Click 'open'->Click OK->Click OK

Done!
The same would be for shortcuts, except navigate to the 'shortcut' tab instead of 'customize'.

As for password protecting folders. As far as I know you can't. Unless you want to compress the file and add a password to it. But that's kind of inefficient, and not worth the effort for folders with large content.
Pretend this signature is the shizz.
