lately i've been feeling lonely and depressed.

actually i've got a lot of good friends, but it seems like they're all too busy to hang out with me on weekends tears.gif.
i still meet them, but it's always during weekdays or on sunday noons. it seems like they want to spend their weekends
with their someones or just don't feel like going out anymore.

anyone know how i feel? i feel like everone's life has been changing, just mine is standing still. it's depressing.

so what do you guys do?
i'd love to go out and meet new people, but it's weird to go to parties/clubs all by yourself. it makes me
feel like, i'm some weirdo with no friends.

so any tips?

bookstores, volunteer organizations, local interest groups [like photography, biking, etc] are a few
you can also hit up a soompi member you know and lives nearby i guess. smile.gif
i spend my saturdays doing housework, errands, chores, etc.
some of it i spend reading and catching up on what's goin on [usually the economy.. hehe]
sometimes i'll host pot lucks, but i guess that requires other people to come.
thankfully there are people willing to drop their schedule to meet for some bomb food tongue.gif

Honestly i know how you feel so i started taking up deejaying last year and now on weekends i practice my own sets and create my own music..

Learning something new that you enjoy such as music takes a lot of time....

Sometimes i just lay on the couch and throw my head in a book which i will be doing this weekend since i'm broke and all my friends are working...

Also i like to try and cook new dishes...

Don't be depressed...

i like to cook ^^ try new things, or work off an old recipe and see how i can play it up and make it fancy ^^ plating i guess?

i also like photography ^^ especially right after a snowfall~

worst comes to worst, i pull up mysoju.com or crunchyroll and find a movie/drama/anime to watch ^^ or find a good book to read.

life's too short to be depressed. sometimes i feel lonely too since those are all solitary activities... ><

it helps to go out sometimes. instead of reading a book at home, read it at the bookstore. watch people walk by when taking breaks. get a brain freeze from drinking that frappachino [or ice blend] too fast. take your camera out if the bookstore is in a nice mall area and take random pictures. i remember walkin around downtown alone and almost getting my camera taken cuz security thought i was a terrorist.. haha... good memories... but yea, go outside where people are. even if you dont know them, it makes a huge difference

thanks for your replies so far.

you guys have mentioned a few good things. too bad, i'm not a person for solitary activities.
i don't know, maybe there's something wrong with me. but it seems like i can't spend time alone.
i always need company or i'll start to feel depressed... on the other hand, i'm too scared to go
outside where people are, when i don't have someone with me. weird, huh?

Sure, I feel the same usually. Well, if I go out to social activities and I don't know ANYONE at all and I'm by myself, I'll feel shy a bit, but not scared. I usually like bringing a friend with me.

You can work on your social skills. It's hard at first. It's suffocating. You'll try to force yourself to talk to people but it won't feel natural and it's normal. However the more you do that, the more comfortable you'll be with any kinds of strangers and you'll have your horizons broaden drastically. Try it smile.gif Just don't be afraid to be judged or embarassed, be fun and natural, and "dont give a mini cooper" attitude can work sometimes too.

i'm glad there's other people like me. the funny thing is, i don't feel shy... but i actually feel embarassed.
i don't even know why. i feel like it's embarassing to go somewhere by myself. i know that's what many
people do and there's nothing wrong with that. but it still feels weird. i guess i'm too used to having at
least one person with me, even though this person isn't doing anything. it just feels good to know, someone
is there...

but i guess, i'll have to widen my horizon and go out and talk to strangers smile.gif

My friends are always busy, too. So I always end up doing things by myself, but I don't mind. It's quite actually peaceful and I can discover a lot by myself, but I do miss having company sometimes. Some activities are better with friends. Most of the times I just go to the bookstores, walk around, act like a tourist, shop, etc.

It's not so bad going out by yourself. Just try it out.

same here, feel the exact same way.
i go to a lot of places alone these days, its not that bad, but just like you said, i always have to be talking to someone..well not literally, but i HAVE to talk to SOMEONE everyday or else i feel disconnected.

I'm usually the one that is turning my friends down when they want to go out.
I just sometimes need my "alone time"...especially in a crowded city like NYC.

Sometimes I go on long walks around the city...or walks in Central Park.
I stay at home and read books...or go the public library and read there.

Just gotta do something to keep yourself occupied maybe build something at home, clean out shelves of old crap, start a project. But yeah I know what you mean by not liking solitary activites, it lacks social interaction. Thats why I work part time jobs and do volunteer work. Theres a lot of volunteer opportunities everywhere if you have the time to commit a few hours a day or each week or whatever the place would like ranging from hospitals to community work to afterschool centers etc.

I have some friends who do that as well, so I find things to do by myself or make new friends. Yeah I don't like doing many things alone either, but sometimes you don't have much choice.

While going to school I used to walk around the city by myself. Good way to observe and think.

If you are a student or if you work, maybe befriend someone who you think will be a good friend.

Lately I've been just trying to not hang out with some of the friends. It's hard, I feel even worse with out company as well, but i just end up watching movies and k drama. I also try to exercise as much as possible, job, walk at the park. Pick up a hobby, I have a guitar and work on cars when the weather permits it. As crazy as it sounds, it might be a chance to actually spend time with family too. huh.gif
Oh man, if i had money to experiment, I'd be cooking lots every weekend. I want to make sushi again. Last time i made it at home, it took then entire day by myself. Running around looking for good quality supplies, prepping, and actually cooking and plating. I even shopped a bit the day before. Then i gave it away to friends and family, I hadn't ate that much of it but it was fun making it.

Try Meetup.com! Click HERE There are lots of possibilities like beer or wine tasting, going to movies or museums, or just meeting at a restaurant for networking.

I'm sure you have people you haven't really taken the time to get to know right? You can always try calling them. smile.gif I'm always busy on weekends so sometimes I think i'd like to stay home and just play computer games all day. Lol.
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

Hahaha. Yeah the Central Park thing was something I did before it got disgustingly cold.

Play an instrument - can be both a solitary or group activity.
