Someone told me that at 17 and a half, I could get my actual driver's license without going through behind the wheel training or driving classes.

Is that true? O:

Sorry if this is on the wrong section ; ; I had no idea where to place this.

I think it depends on where you live.
Where I live, I think you have to be at least 18 to be able to get a license without taking a class.

If you are over 17 ½ but under 18 years of age, you may get your permit without the driver education and driver training certificates however, you will not be able to take the driving test until you turn 18.

from the DMV site for CA.
hope that helps;x

If you live in Texas and Oklahoma, [I'm not sure about other states]
You could take the Parent Taught Driver Education.
It's available to teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17.

You will just have to take the road signs exam and
recieve your permit then wait six months for you license.
I recieved my license when I was sixteen. smile.gif

I'm in California too & to my knowledge:
@ 17.5: you can get your permit w/o paying for behind-the-wheel training
@18: you can test for your license (because it equals 6 months anyway)

materialistic? -- almost.
