during my first year of college, i've decided to major in Music, but changed it to business; however i changed AGAIN TO PHARMACY. The thing is that i haven't taken ANY CLASSES THAT ARE REQUIRED for my major. It seems like i've wasted a lot of my time. I am so mad at myself right now. I am planning to transfer to UW or CWU, but jesus i feel old and dumb since so many younger students have their goals all set up. sigh... i am 23 years old now and i regret it SO much

has anyone had this kind of problem?

i started out in comp sci and ended up in fine art & english....

luckily I (still) kinda like working with computers, so the CS credits were perfectly fine for me....

you shouldn't compare yourself to others and focus on your own goals. Everyone has their own path.

I've had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM - and I'm furious. Not just the time, but the money too. I went to a university that was like 20K a year to major in film - but before the semester started I hated the school. After/during the first semester I changed my mind about film. Second and third semesters I took liberal arts courses thinking I'll "find my way" if I do that. Turns out I'm a sophomore now and I've wasted 3 semesters and 30K only to realize that I could be going to a public college for 1/5 the cost! And most importantly, I'm planning on majoring in something in a field that I've always hated - the medical field.

So basically... I went from film to occupational therapy. Pretty big leap. And in the process, I've also wasted 30K. Pretty bad decision, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I feel really depressed about it because it's like I'm wasting my life.

i switched from business to computer science. oh well, you make do with what you have. to tell you the truth, all those younger students you see, most of them will likely change careers or switch to another field for grad school. that's how it goes really. you learn what you can and you adapt. jobs in different industries come and go in waves, so will people who seek those jobs.

If it helps I was a comp science major my freshmen year. Then sophomore year I decided to go for engineering and finally junior year(current) I decided to go for business. I can't seem to make up my mind and I get discourage once the courses start getting hard lol. I remember hearing this or reading it from somewhere that 80% of college students change their major at least once. I like to remember this so it makes me feel like I'm not the only one.

A lot of my friends have changed their majors a couple of times. It's better to change your major to something you enjoy and using that major to get into the job field you want. For some people it takes some time to decide what they want to do with their lives so it's better to change your major now that have a total career change later on in life which is what some people do when they realize they really hate their job and want to pursue their true interests.

i went pharmacy for 2 years, comp sci for a quarter, accounting for 3 years and flunked out due to one class. but i'm putting my foot down and switching schools again in spring so i can do accounting again. however, i guess i'm wasting a quarter again switching to finance right now since i have to wait to transfer...but it was my backup plan in case i didn't get into a new school anyway. either way, lot of wasted time and money and i couldn't feel worse about it, but i will end this by the end of this year. i swear on my life.

luckily for me, i was in a program that basically planned out my first two years in college just for general ed classes, meaning all of my requirement classes, so i had some time to think about what i wanted to do, take some classes of those majors and decide if i wanted that major, without wasting time.

i started with journalism, then to graphic communications, now to marketing. i'm a semester or two behind everyone else at my college's business school, but in a way i guess it's good to know what you don't want before you fully commit yourself to doing that for the rest of the your life and THEN regret it smile.gif

I have been wasting my time being undecided. I think
I have an idea what to major in, but it will probably
change soon and I am appliying to Universities
this year..ahhhh. What to major in? is like on of the
hardest questions in the world. For me at least.

Better to change to something you think you might enjoy doing better then being stuck with something you hate.

I've gone from IT and networking to management and animation (not sure why i chose that combination) to international business and IT management. I like my 2 majors now so i'm going to stick to it.

You don't have to love me...
You don't even have to like me...
But you WILL have to respect me.
