I looked through the topics here and I couldn't find one on this, but if there is then mods please close sweatingbullets.gif

So a week ago I was watching tv and a Special K cereal commerical came on with the whole "Special K Challenge." It seemed simple enough. You substitute two meals a day with any Special K product and eat the third meal normally and you can lose up to 6 pounds in two weeks. So I thought, "What the heck, I'll give it a try! I want to get rid of a few pounds anyways." And the cinnamon and honey tea that was posted in here didn't work for me..sad.gif (although it made my digestive system more regular)

The thing that made this easier for me was the fact that I'm always in a grab and go mode this quarter since all my classes are pretty much in a row with not much break time. So just as long as it was quick, easy, and fulfilling it was perfect.

I've been on this challenge for about 3 days now and so far I have lost two pounds. I'm pretty satisfied with the results so far and I'll post my final weight loss at the end of two weeks. Exercise wise, the only work out i get is walking all around campus and using the eliptical machine for half and hour three times a week, so I'm not doing an incredibly intense workout. But anyways, I'm just curious if anyone has done this and what they think smile.gif

I didn't have to change my eating plan TOO drastically. I barely eat breakfast because I always wake up late, but this made me eat breakfast so that was good for me. I also cut out junk food but I can still enjoy a yummy meal everyday. So to me, this plan has been nothing but helpful so far! If any of you guys have questions on what I ate( such as portion wise) or anything else that I can maybe try to answer feel free to leave a comment smile.gif

SPECIAL K WEBSITE

*edit*
i definitely know that this isn't some "miracle diet" because there really is no such thing. I havent really stuck to the plan lately but I have decreased my calorie intake and working out which is helping me see a difference in my weight. smile.gif
I guess the thing about this I liked is that it helped me take those first steps in lowering my calorie intake and I actually like how the stuff tastes. You know when you lose a few pounds and you get pretty excited? This gave me that little excitement and boost. I don't think I'll follow this that much anymore; i don't think i need to. I think all along I was just looking for some sort of method that would at least jump start my diet.
I still eat what I want to, but in moderations and workout alot more! So to all of you guys who said this isn't a long term thing, you guys are definitely right! I think if anyone needs that little boost to jump start your diet then it's a nice start. However, follow everyone's comments below in suggesting just to eat healthier and work out more.
Thanks for stopping by and reading and wish me luck on my weight loss! smile.gif smile.gif

Good Luck!!

And keep updating haha cuz i'm curious too

I also tried the cinnamon and honey, and it had no results whatsoever for me too. I don't know why, but hopefully if you lose weight on this, I'll test it out as well!

No offense or anything, but it's pretty obvious that you would lose weight if you follow this diet exactly, simply because you're taking in fewer calories than you normally would. I know that a bowl of Special K cereal plus fat free milk is much, much, MUCH fewer calories than how many I usually eat for dinner (I'm guessing that it's also less than how much you normally eat). So this diet isn't unique to special K, it would pretty much work for most cereals that you can imagine. (However, Special K is certainly one of the healthier cereals - it's not froot loops, etc., so that's good at least).

The trick won't be losing the weight. The hard part will be maintaining the weight loss. But I wish you good luck! Keep us posted - I'm particularly interested in whether you keep the weight off. =)

I'm not trying to discourage you or anything btw, just trying to clarify that these 'fad diets' usually don't do much long term. That being said, if I could, I probably would try this diet (my parents would kill me if I did this, though). so good luck!

Yeah I was just about to say the same thing.

I think that the "Special K Challenge" is somewhat of a gimmick.

It tells you to replace two meals with a bowl of cereal...so obviously that's fewer calories.

Yeah, I've seen this on TV as well. The Special K cereals are good too :] They remind me of rice krispies in a way because of the crunchy/pop sound

Cute challenge! Great for kids! Teaches basics about how decreasing calories can induce weight-loss. But if you are sacrificing lean muscle tissue and or not exercising. This in no way improve your health to a noticeable extent. You won't have more energy in the day. You won't be more resistant to sickness. You won't have a nicer body, legs per se. SO..... Please make sure to include some exercise! biggrin.gif

This diet doesn't work for people who can't give up food so easily also .
& after you lose the weight, you'll gain it all back if you stop eating their cereal .
Heck, I tried it-- finished the box in two days . Shiiieeeett :x

yeah pretty much.
eating special k for two meals instead of "actual meals" lowers your calorie intake by a LOT. and clearly you're going to lose weight if you decrease your calorie intake by so much per day... and losing so much weight in so little time is very unhealthy and you're more likely to gain back the weight and more afterwards.

Hey Candee I want to make sure you understand that it will induce some change and you should definately continue with it as it will be an educational experience into nutrition and how it directly leads to your weight, health, and how your body fits on you. Just remember that if you change how you eat, that in turn will change how you look - so if you switch to junk food and replace those 2 special k meals. Then you will see a negative response. Good luck and update this thread!

oh no but I wanted to demonstrate that without a search function, the soompi forums tend to repeat themselves every 2-3 months.
