So.. I'm in (high) school which is the only place I talk in person to mah crush who I am sure also likes me and I'm just fine talking when we're alone but there are a boatload of people who either like me or like her, but who are also my good friends. So she talks to me fine in front of these people but I just zip up and barely mumble a few words.. due to that I, like everyone else, know how much it sucks to be jealous, but I've got too much empathy and instantly feel bad for my friends . This is probably weird for her. But anyways, I guess my real problem/question is.. how the hell do I deal with friends and <3 interest without opening a pandora's box of bad situations?

If she feels comfortable talking to you in front of the other people, you shouldn't feel bad just by doing such a simple thing! ^^ It's not like you're holding her hand or making out in front of everyone o_o. Just talk. They probably already find it weird that you act so evasive whenever she's around. Also, if they can't take the fact that you and her are pretty much interested in one another, then they're not really good friends. Both of you are free to like whomever. Don't push her away just because you're trying to protect other people's feelings. How do you think she feels when you avoid her?

You have to teach yourself to not worry about it. Just go forward; I used to have the exact same issue, fine one-on-one (not literally... like a date), but in groups of people, very difficult to talk. It's something you just need to not psyche yourself out about, you can do it, it's not that big of an issue, just have some confidence in yourself; she obviously likes you, and you like her as well. So what if people know?
