So I'm heading down to the computer store in a moment and can't decide which one to choose: Asus Eee 1008HA or 1101HA.

Here are the differences:

Asus Eee PC 1008HA:
Screen: 10"
Processor: 1.66 Ghz (Atom N280)
Dimensions: 26.2 cm(W) x 17.8 cm(D) x 2.57 cm(H) (1.1 kg)
Resolution: 1024 x 600
Battery Life: "6 hours" (Battery isn't user-replaceable)
(Hidden ports)

Asus Eee PC 1101HA:

Screen Size: 11,6"
Processor: 1.33Ghz (Atom Z520)
Dimensions: 28.6 cm(W) x 19.6cm(D) x 3.6cm(H) (1,35 kg)
Resolution: 1366 x 768
Battery Life: "8.5 hours" (Battery can be taken out)

(Price is the same)

So which one? 1108HA has a bigger processer, yet a smaller screen + small batterylife (non removeable) & is thinner.
1101HA has a bigger battery (removeable), but a smaller processor and slightly bigger than 1108HA?

I'm on the lookout for netbooks as well...I'm leaning towards the ones with the 9-inch screens since the 7-inch ones are too small and the 10-inch ones are too big lol..

Can anyone recommend 9-inch ones? I've seen reviews for the Eee PC 900HA and its pretty good. It has a nice size (some 9-inchers have the size of a 10-incher) too. And I like the Dell Mini 9 as well, but it has SSD, I prefer HDD. Any more nice ones then? A good battery life would be great too.smile.gif

The 1101HA. Longer battery life. Bigger screen. The processor can actually be overclocked to be higher than the N280 using the 'super performance' mode. So in actuality, the processor is better.

Thanks for your input, but I decided to buy the 1008HA anyway biggrin.gif
I simply fell for it. I ordered a white one, but they only received the pink and blue one so far. But when I saw the pink one, I was immediately sold. I've never had such a small "laptop" before biggrin.gif It's awesome to websurfing, writing blogs, etc. But for writing essays and heavy work = nope. That'll take too long.. tongue.gif

Oh yeah, did I say it's soooo thin?!

I'm looking to buy this model as well. Where did you get it for that price? The cheapest one I've seen is $430 CAD.

How do you like the glossy screen of the P version?

I went to Dumoulin not sure if you know that cuz its in Montreal lol. There was a guy who pre order that version but ended up not showing up so when I came there and showed some interest in it he said he'd give it to me for the 1005-V price which was 399. So I took it because it was exactly what I was looking for. happy.gif couldnt find any better deal elsewhere.

The glossy screen, isnt much of a problem since I like glossy design whatever just take a cloth and clean it afterward lol

Does anyone have the Samsung NC10???

I was about to purchase this because it ranked highest on this website
I was looking at. From your experience, what's a good netbook for
writing essays, typing notes during college classes?

the N280 has a "super performance mode" as well. Im pretty sure the Z processor is NOT better, apart from the clock speeds there is the huge reduction in FSB over the N280.

I finally bought myself a netbook. I've been eying these for a while, but there wasn't a time when I needed it yet. I was so set on the Samsung NC10, but I decided to go with a ASUS Eee PC 1005HA since it's newer. I'm so excited for it to be shipped >.< I honestly can't wait to get my hands on it D:

I recently purchased a Samsung N120 netbook, & I have a question to all those who are tech savvy~
The hard drive makes a faint crackling sound (i.e. rice crispies). Is this a normal hard drive sound, or should I return the netbook? I thought computers in general should be silent besides any fan noise.
Thank you so much for any advice in advance!
I really like this netbook~ but I am worried that mine might have a bad hard drive.

I am looking to buy a netbook, and I was wondering what people prefer. I'm deciding between Samsung and Dell. Where can I buy cheap netbooks?

I ended up buying the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA. It's been great so far, the almost full size keyboard makes it so easy to type. All in all I'm satisfied with my purchase.

I don't really know much about computer things, so I'm wondering if anyone here knows how to load Microsoft office onto a netbook. I don't have an optical drive so...

Thanks.

Thanks.

You can load it via an USB but that requires ripping the program from the CD. Otherwise getting an external CD/DVD drive is another option.

my dad got me an Acer Aspire One D250 for my birthday in august for 3200 HKD (400 USD) from hongkong. for the price, its a pretty good deal = Intel Atom N260 1.66 GHz, 2 GB ram, 160 GB hard drive, 6 cell battery, protector sleeve, traveler's warranty.

the performances have been great, the battery life is absolutely love, the size of keyboard is fine since i have small hands BUT my wrists are really uncomfortable because they are resting on the netbook's edge when i'm typing. the 6-cell battery does add more weight to the netbook and it sticks out on the back. i just hate the color, i really wanted a white one...but my dad surprised me and got a red one (ek). i also dont like how its glossy, attracts finger prints like no other! oh, it can also get REALLY hot, i think the sticker on the back got a little burn in the middle....i hope its not though.

I think I want a Netbook but will wait until they ship with Windows 7.
Are there any reviews of final releases of Netbooks shipped with Win7 ? What is most stalble ?

I know people have been testing Win7 betas and release candidates, but I'd want to
know that as it comes from the factory they have all the configurations and drivers right
so it doesn't freeze up everytime I move to a new WiFi zone or plug a mouse and scroll.

How I use a laptop:
Open 2 windows of Opera, 2 of Chrome, 3 of Firefox,
maybe 5 to 10 tabs each.

Load up content to read, reference material, etc in each.
god I love right click new tab !

Then when riding in car or train, read with no net access. Fold it shut. Walk to train. Read. Or when waiting, out of WiFi zone, read. Then fold it shut, go to class, work gym. Repeat. My iPhone is OK at this but when I switch to Safari it tries to reload the page when it should just show what I already loaded before I put the phone away.

I want to in 15 seconds, take netbook out of my bag, open it up, attach to
WiFi zone, go to an already open tab, hit refresh, and reload a page.
An not need to reboot or wait forever (Vista, I'm looking at you).

Am I expecting too much of Win7 on a Netbook ?

I've tried the Aspire, ASUS, Lenovo s10, they are all good, but my friends are not so much multitaskers
or do not even open five other windows for reference docs when working, and they shut down before
running off to another spot. I'm a mobile girl !
