so I just finished watching this underated movie with joy.
One more great war film that I can enjoy, without having to gross at someone's gut falling out of their body and stuff...
and people on the net say something 'bout the director, whom I'd never heard of but sure is a great one (plus she's a girl!! making war movies...uber cool!! w00t.gif w00t.gif w00t.gif ).

so here it is :

Youtube trailer

Director: Kathryn Bigelow

QUOTE
An intense portrayal of elite soldiers who have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world: disarming bombs in the heat of combat. When a new sergeant, James, takes over a highly trained bomb disposal team amidst violent conflict, he surprises his two subordinates, Sanborn and Eldridge, by recklessly plunging them into a deadly game of urban combat. James behaves as if he's indifferent to death. As the men struggle to control their wild new leader, the city explodes into chaos, and James' true character reveals itself in a way that will change each man forever.

casts:
Jeremy Renner ... Staff Sergeant William James
Anthony Mackie ... Sergeant JT Sanborn

Brian Geraghty ... Specialist Owen Eldridge

Guy Pearce ... Sergeant Matt Thompson

Ralph Fiennes ... Contractor Team Leader

David Morse ... Colonel Reed

Christian Camargo ... Colonel John Cambridge

when he died, his eyes were closed and his heart was opened

it's one of those underrated movie that makes you really think about the storyline and characters afterwards.
I wish I hadn't deleted it from my harddisk dry.gif really want to rewatch it

saw it in the theaters during the summer. other than "up", this is pretty much the best movie hollywood had to offer this year, pending "avatar". i'm not kidding. it's such a tour-de-force of writing, acting, and directing. this movie will hit you hard, but in a very understated way. the part that blew my mind was when he went crazy over the boy who died, only to discover it was the wrong boy, and then went on and detached himself from the boy. when i saw it, i thought it was something of neo-neorealism. speaking of which, kathryn bigelow, the director, is probably most well-known for being married (and subsequently divorced from) none other than james cameron. yes, he of the "titanic" and recently "avatar" fame. she's not a big name on her own yet, but after this movie she will be. i wouldn't be surprised if it won best picture at the oscars.

honestly i didn't really like this movie and i thought it sorta sucked.
it's highly unrealistic, the main character is retarded beyond all comprehension, the dialogue is stupid.
the little kid that the main character goes apemini cooper over was also really stupid.
the only good thing about the film was the cinematography.

I read the reviews and my expectations were high. At the half way point, I was still waiting for the promised to kick in. Well, it does not happen. This was way too slow and falls incredibly short of the great reviews. Could there be another version--like one that deserves all the hype? (BTW, I couldn't finish this movie as I fell asleep toward the end).

I want to watch this movie...The director is James Cameron's ex-wife...!
