American To European Outlet/plugs. are they different or the same?

hey there! im in canada, and im planning on going to europe (france/germany) in march.
and i was wondering if the outlet/plugs are the same or do i need a converter?
and if so, where can i purchase one! thanks so much!
cause i dont wanna bring all my straighteners/ cellphones and everything and later finding out that they wont be able to plug into the wall!

they're different, Europeans have native 220v/50hz, whilst in Canada I think its 110v at 60v. So unless your appliances take an input voltage of 220v at 50hz you will need to buy a step down transformer, which aren't too cheap, or too expensive.

u can get them anywhere hardware stores.. walmart..costco...
