happy chinese new year!
did anyone get any lai see yet?
usually back in hong kong, i wake up and my mom and i say "sun leen fai lok" and then the phrases that wishes good health, good looks, jobs etc.

then we also have a bunch of food in a box thingy at home, and i go over to my grandmothers and we all have dinner, and exchanged wrapped snack gifts and those lucky words and get lai see!

that's pretty much all we do. eat a lot of carrot cake, those seed things, and other various cny food.
oh and we stick a "luck" poster upside down on my door.

and my mom tries to bring me to meet all her married friends and dinners so i can get more lai see =p even if ive never met them, hahaha

i know more traditional families have the kum quaits and clean their whole house the day before, my family doesn't do that.

and this is my first time actually celebrating cny in cali, it's much more chill even among my relatives. but i got a lai see! first one since i've been in college!!

Happy New Years! w00t.gif
I didn't realize it was until my mom started cooking the food... mmm tongue.gif
But yeah, since we live in a town with barely any asians or relatives, they make me call everyone and wish them "good luck"
Hopefully I'll get some money soon XD that's always the best.
But that's the farthest it goes for us, if we wanted to see something bigger then we have to drive a couples hours :/ (no time for that)
I would LOVE to go to the Buddhist temples on New Years, but I live in the U.S., so not many very nice temples with the same atmosphere. sad.gif
Harry Potter gots nothing on this sexy potter LOL ;D

Happy New Years everyone. Hope wish everyone here all good health and be successful in the upcoming year. Ok, we know you want to go to all your relative's house and get that $$$$$$$$$$.

I'm not sure what we're doing this year. I think we just might eat and watch the New Years on the chinese channel, lol.

I would say Happy Lunar New Year, because not everyone celebrates the Chinese New Year nor do they call it the Chinese New Year.

Have you ever seen normal Taiwanese or Korean people walking around on streets? Most of them have huge noses, small chinky eyes and flat noses and look nothing like those celebrities you see in dramas. And sorry, but most Korean celebrities you see on TV underwent a lot of plastic surgeries in order to look like what you see on TV. I think this should be well-known by all K-Pop-fans.
