Restarting Computer To Delete Viruses?

sorry for my lack of "words"

I want to use my computer as a music programmer (make/edit musics). I was wondering if i restart my computer to point zero, will it get rid of all my viruses/spywares/cookies? or do i have to buy the programs/software to do that?

sorry for sounding so stupid. I seriously have no knowledge watsoever when it comes to computers XD

If i have to buy a program/software can you recommend me some? one that will protect me from multiple things so i dont have to spend a ton of money of multiple program/softwares. Thanks

When you say restart to point zero, does that mean start from scratch? Like clean install windows? IF so, then yes, everything will be gone, and it'll be like a new computer.
As for software, there are plenty of free ones that do just fine.

And I just had to laugh at Windows XP 2000 xD
