Okay, so I'm a junior, and I will be a senior next year.
At the moment, my school is making us forecast for next year, or choose our classes for next year.
I go to an all girls private school, meaning that Theology/Religion is required to be taken EVERY SINGLE YEAR in order to graduate.
That crosses off one of my classes.
US History & English are also required. I'm taking AP English, and regular US next year.

That leaves me three electives left.
I know for sure that I want to take AP Calculus & AP French...
So one spot left..

But there's about 4 things I want to take next year, that wouldn't all fit into my schedule:
AP Physics, AP Psychology, Yearbook.

Um.
AP Psych sounds like such an incredibly funnn class, and Yearbook sounds like it too.
AP Physics, I've wanted to take that since freshman year, but it's only offered to seniors at my school.

I'm not sure if AP credits count anymore in college, many people have said that they don't, and then there's many who say they do.
I don't know, even if the AP credits don't count, if I take the class, it'll make it easier for me in college right?
So...

What should I take?
Should I take a class so that it makes it easier for me during college, or should I enjoy my senior year?

Thank you ahead of time for your input. biggrin.gif

It depends on what colleges you are looking at, regarding whether they'll accept certain ap credits or not. It also depends on what you want to major in cuz that'll determine the kind of classes you'd have to take.

Anyways, think about this. How prepared are you for college apps? How well can you handle that prospect of 'getting out?' (say...when summer break or winter break comes close do you start to get lazier?) B/c aside from the few weeks right before the early action or regular decision filing periods my teachers did not ease up on the hw.

Senior year is just as busy as junior year. I'm in 2nd semester, and it still feels like I have a lot of work...mostly b/c of AP English... xP (oral presentation tomorrow..and tuesday...). And then there's applying for honors programs and fafsa..... And obviously, I have some srs senioritis as exemplified by my usage of soompi...

And AP Psych is fun. =] Granted that you get an awesome teacher. As for AP Physics, I'm not taking it, but I have friends that do... Hopefully, you love calculus and have already taken a physics class and enjoyed it...

if you want some work, take ap physics (b or c)? .. c is much harder & requires calculus, maybe not a good idea to take those at the same time.. tho the calc they use is really easy so you may not have many problems..
if you want an ap class that's super easy (at least at my school), take psych.
if you want to slack off/have fun, take yearbook.
that's pretty much my pov..

i would think ap physics would be more beneficial in college, particularly if you're looking to major in something like engineering.. could get you out of some prerequisites.

if i were you i'd take ap physics if my future major required/recommended it, and ap psych otherwise.

what school(s) are you thinking about? & what major?
i would say, challenge yourself. up until you feel like you'd die. literally.
one of my ap teachers said that AP physics is probably the hardest ap class (mostly in regards to the exam).
ap psych, can't say much about that.
yearbook.. it's different. i have heard that it gets so busy (with all the dealines and stuff), but some colleges might like that you took an activities class. it's like taking leadership or anything similar.. makes you more of an all-around student than just academic. (that's what I heard, anyways).

but i would advise to FIRST find out what major you want to go in, and see what classes are recommended or required towards that major. it'll help you choose easier.
& another advise... start your college apps and scholarships ASAP. like, start writing your essay in late summer. it'll really help you balance out school work and college stuff.

so all in all, do things that make you pull out your hair during the school year, and then have fun all you want in the summer. it's worth it (:

AP Physics and AP Psychology both seems like great classes
I'll be taking them both next year
Psyc seems like the easier class, in my school it seems like more reading the memorizing while physics is more math
I'm not sure since i haven't taken them yet, but I would choose physics

AP credits only count in certain colleges for certain AP classes. You'd have to check with the college you're applying to, to see if they accept it as college credit since it's different for every college.

Personally I think you should go with AP psyche or physics because.... really, what's the point of yearbook? Sure, it's fun but it doesn't really contribute to your transcript much. (Unless you're planning to do designing in college?) If you're planning to major in some sort of science in college, go for physics or psyche.
