Didn't see a thread for this game but has anyone played it? Yakuza 1 and 2 came out for ps2, Yakuza Kenzan, a spinoff, came out for ps3 in Japan only I believe. And Yakuza 3 is coming out in Japan next month but I doubt a US release will be announced for another year.

Storyline for the first game follows the story of Kazuma Kiryu, a former Yakuza whose release from prison after a ten-year sentence sparks the setup of the game's plot. After his release, he returns to find his friend is missing and the clan he was once a part of (the Tojo Clan) has had ten billion yen (approx. USD$100 million) stolen from them, which the entire Japanese underworld is now searching for. Yakuza 2 takes place one year after the events of Yakuza 1 and I'm not sure about Yakuza 3 yet.

If anyone can find better trailers, it would be cool. Anyways this series is very good. Action/Adventure/Beat em up/RPG all mixed into one. The only flaw I can think of for part 1 is that if you play the US version, there's only English voice overs and it's not quite as good as the original Japanese. The Japanese version I'm unsure if they have english subs or not. Yakuza 2 for the US release does keep the original Japanese voices with english subs so its more "authentic." The battle system is fairly simple, but where this game really shines is its storyline. Absolutely one of the best storylines I have ever seen in a video game and I would definitely recommend anyone to play these games if they can get a hold of them. If you enjoyed Shenmue, this game is seen as a spiritual successor. And if anyone ever told you Yakuza is like Grand Theft Auto, this game is not similar at all to GTA. If ur looking for GTA clones, look elsewhere. Yakuza and GTA shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence except to say Yakuza is better in my opinion. =P
