after watching the first 15 episodes of the series, i have to say... this is probably my favorite version, fulfilled all my expectations (just wish they'd fix yu haoming's hair) and lovee the scenery and music too.
i think what makes this version more enjoyable for me is the fact that not a lot of things are overly exaggerated in the way that all the other versions and the manga made it to be. sure, there are some extreme situations, a few cliches here and there, but the character's personality, the way things play out, and even the setting aren't completely unbelievable. The only character i have some problems with is chu yuxun, actually. she seems a little bit over the top set on not forgiving other people and getting mad easily. but i think that's only because yunhai is more reasonable here than in other versions, so it makes yuxun seem a little more irrational.
i really like yunhai's character. unlike in the other versions, he really does seem to only have a short temper and be mean sometimes because of the childish side of him. if you ignore that part, you can really see how he's actually a really nice and caring person on the inside. the childishness also justifies his overreaction to duanmu in some ways, so the way he challenged duanmu is not completely random either.
in every single version so far except this one, i've always liked duanmu's character. this is the first time that i actually want yuxun to end up with yunhai... it's a nice change for once, knowing that i'll actually get what i wanted. it's actually been a while in terms of general dramas that i'm supporting the main guy with the main girl...
and! one more thing! i like the way yunhai kisses yuxun (: in a lot of chinese dramas the kissing looks really awkward when they just stand there and don't do anything while kissing. yunhai looks like such a good kisser the way he actually looks like he's enjoying the kiss. teehehehe! i thought that yunhai looked pretty good before the drama, and now i'm just head over heels in love with him! just like those funny chinese fans on his tieba obsessing over him. hahaha
and although i really want to defend meteor shower as an original drama... there's really too many similarities for me to accept it as a drama on its own apart from hana yori dango... I know a lot of dramas have similar plots anyways, and that there's a lot of differences in details about this drama, but the character relations, the events that occur... it all seems really similar =/ but at the same time, the things that are similar have little differences in them so im like really confused. :S
well either way, i like the drama for the way that it is, original or not. i'm just fearful of how other people will react to it, since i really think it deserves the praise that it gets without people complaining about it being copied or filmed without permission.
oh! and watching the interviews and stuff, i feel like the relationship between the 5 leads in real life are a little more awkward than i expected. especially zhang han and zheng shuang. they seem almost as if they're barely friends... only acquaintances. but either way i think it's great acting on their part if they can pull of chemistry like that without actually being close in reality. zhu zixiao makes me smile with his hard work and the stuff he had to overcome... wei chen is quiet and cute, kind of like how he is in the drama... he sounds like he had the easiest part too with the whole 'practicing video games for the drama' thing while everyone else learns taekwondo and piano and stuff. then yu haoming! if only he didn't have the weird hair in the drama... but on shows and stuff, he's really funny and outgoing. AND HE LIKES KIDS

i love that guy.
