I don't really know why Meteor Shower is the one that made it to Soompi, Maybe because it's an idol series? But It'd be so exhausting if we had threads for all of the other Chinese series + Supergirls...

I'm already maxed out in typing just from today's episodes....

but I feel like I'll be even more tired later on once the Shangguan Ruiqian + Xiao Yu relationship starts. I was looking forward to it just to see more Ruiqian, but I really loved their interaction in today's episodes. It was such a sweet moment...I like how she saw him at his most vulnerable.

Lol I'm super confused about why MS is the only one that is so hot here. Haha. But if it were all going on a the same time I doubt I would be able to keep up. This thread moves like wildfire.

Ahhh I find them so adorable. It's so sad watching Ruiqian reject Xiao yu. Really hope that she will be able to change him and they can live happily ever after. yah!

ooooo top of the page again.

@cfensi, brightlight & xingjing: I love reading the character dissection from you guys! smile.gif

Thanks...lol. I feel like we brought out all the literary references today...I feel like Harold Bloom! It makes one think about how some stories are used, reused, and then changed a little all the time.

Maybe it's just idol series though which follow the same proven love patterns that draw in viewers. I didn't get such feelings of familiarity with the other Chinese series I watched this year. At the same time, those love stories are addicting.

Favorite characters so far -

Yunhai - he undergoes the biggest change and actually is really making himself worthy
Shangguan Ruiqian - Today's scene with him so happy at really having a girlfriend and then his face at finding out she had a boyfriend in Japan made me like him so so much. And what sealed the deal was when he told Xiao Yu to stay away because it just hit him how heart wrenching it was to be with someone who was a player.
Yuxun - I really liked her in these episodes...because I like that she's able to encourage Yunhai for everything good that he is doing even if she doesn't think she likes him. She may be confused if she likes him or not, but I like that she likes seeing others improve themselves in general.
Ye Shuo - Not sure For some reason I feel like Yunduo's boyfriend will change and win back Yunduo while Ye Shuo goes on this self-destructive path out of anger
Duan Mulei - Weak...and confused right now...he needs to get a spine. Well, we see that he's happy for them later on so let's get to that point at his family.
Yu Xin - You don't wash someone's hair and then steal her bf.

Duanmu blatantly tells her he doesn't like her and that he's only helping her as a "fan" and for childhood's sake in the first half.

Duanmu asks her out to the dance, then asks another girl out. Then completely ignores Yuxun when she arrived and dances with the other girl instead, and then after walking the other girl home, tells Yuxun that she's the most beautiful girl.

Duanmu, after being frustrated with his relationship with another girl, comes back and starts being a "playboy" without regards to how Yuxun would feel. Then immediately hugs Yuxun and asks her out right, while still being unsure about how much he actually likes her.

The worst thing Yunhai has done was call her stupid and doing childish pranks on her.

Yunhai made her lose her job as a taekwondo trainer, but found her another, less dangerous one.
Yunhai didn't ask her out to the dance, but gave her a dress and asked her for the first dance.
Yunhai didn't offer her a spot on his roof, but offered his heart for her.

Duanmu is nice by nature, but he doesn't love Yuxun.
Yunhai is childish by nature, but he really loves Yuxun.

First of all, he asked her to be a dance partner for a dance (or multiple). Not his date. I think balls in China are different. I suppose you can dance with anybody. But I agree. I hated his guts for ignoring her.

He saved her from being kicked out of school. He asked her to come back to school.

And finally, what I like about the "Rui" character in all the adaptation is that he never ever tried to just shoved money down her throat. Duanmu helped her find a job. Yunhai downright gave her money (although he also arranged her to work at the gym.)

I hate this playboy Duanmu myself. But you can't discount that what he has done for her allows her to continue to go to school and therefore, to have the opportunity to be loved by Yunhai and to love him back.

holy moly, 8 new pages, i literally read all 8 pages. you guys are amazing, i love the spoilers and predictions, it gets me all hyped up.

i'm still on 17, but i'm almost done, then i'm heading straight for 18, so that i could enjoy 19 and 20 tonight.

i think what makes this show good, is that there's a lot of twist and turns in the story that makes the audience think about. it makes us happy and giggle like little fan girls, but then there are moments where we are angry and want to beat our own heads. the drama is sometime unpredictable, and we don't know exactly how its going to conclude in each ep. not like some dramas where we have our eyes glue to the screen and laugh at each moment and not really look deeper into the storyline. i think that's why MS for me is really good, because the storyline has positive and negative points to attract the audience, it gets them hooked. if all drama storylines were good, there won't be negative points to help improve the drama. sorry if that didn't make too much sense. i guess the bottom line i'm trying to say is that MS's storyline is pretty well written so far.

how come i didn't know shang guan had a gf? and her name is lisa? i wonder what will happen to him and xiao yu.

@hoistdacolors
Yunhai was the one who shredded her paper. And he also asked her to not leave.

As with the money...his was more direct, but he's not as "naturally sweet" as Duanmu, who has a natural flair for winning a girl's heart.

Anyways, there was a beautiful scene in Tiny Times when one of the male leads give one of the female leads money to buy a cellphone because she lost her old one, and she felt indignified and threw it at him (even though she had expected him to buy her a new cellphone...but receiving money was too blunt for her) Soon after, she goes downstairs and sees a couple fighting because the male could not provide for the family ( I think...either way it was an argument about money). She is touched and runs back to him with food (lol). They make up.

The scene switches to him in his dorms after she leaves, eating the only food he's eaten in a few days. It turns out that the money was all he had, because his mother had cut off his money source for dating her.

Except when Guo Jingming wrote it, it was so much more romantic and sad at the same time.

wow...reading your description was quite enlightening for me. Meteor Shower is like Hunan TV!

anyways, one of my favorite quotes about Hunan TV from anonymous poster on baidu tieba:

QUOTE
Hunan TV is like the winner in love in terms of TV stations. He makes you love him, he makes you hate him, he makes you laugh and smile, he makes you frustrated and yell. Yet in the end, you go through everything with him and you can't live without him.

Duanmu was the one that hinted to her not to punch Yunhai. I think the most vile thing in this version is Yunhai's attempt to get her kicked out like that, which is very mild compare to the other versions.

It doesn't matter who does what for who. I just dislike how everyone, except for Shangguan, is portrayed right now.

I need a chill pill. hahaha

Reading from this, I'm quite interest to see how Tiny Times will turn out if it actually becomes a series. I wonder if it will be as popular as this drama.

When I first heard of Guo Jing Ming, I always wanted to give his novels a shot, but I was quite skeptical because of the numerous reports that stated his plagiarism. I guess afterwards I become quite biased about him and thinks his stories are your typical teenage novels.

thanks brightlight for the compliment, it is just a way i view dramas, i don't like plots that are perfect, i like plots that gives flavor. MS is definitely giving me flavor.

that's why there's another example to add to MS's hate and love plot. i'm watching ep 18 right now, and i dislike the fact that Yun Hai is sticking money at Yu Xun's face and telling her nicely that he's trying to help her. I also dislike how he is snooping around her family's business. yeah i know you care about her and what not, but that's not the best way to deal with it. but then you start to love Yun Hai, cause you know that he will later make a better person out of himself. he starts to realize what he really needs to do to make people around him happy.

therefore, i'm sure right now ppl are disliking Duan Mu's character a bit, cause he's confused and what not. but lets look at it this way, who in life have never been confused before? we all have at one point. it's not his fault that the girl he loved, suddenly have trouble and ended up splitting apart. and then he finds that maybe being with the girl that been supporting him is a good idea. i don't think he wanted to use her, he prbly just wanted to take a look at a different perspective, but it ended up like he was using her to get over Yu Xin. i'm thinking that later on into the drama, we'll like him again, because he too like Yun Hai will finally know what he wants and how to make ppl around him happy.

Haha I love your descriptions of everyone, especially yu xin's. Made me laugh. I never really understood the whole hair washing deal. lol That was just kinda weird.

I really don't want to see Ye Shou heartbroken. Although I can see that happening as well. Although I really wish Yunduo boyfriends stay the way he is, I doubt they'll keep him like that. Maybe he'll change but they realize they are not right for each other and then she falls for Ye Shou. Yah!!!! Ok yea I'm dreaming.

Wait, how is that worse than having people go rape her? That was the one thing in HYD that I really had a hard time swallowing....usually when I watched HYD, I had to pretend that part didn't exist.

From the way it was written, I think that Yunhai wasn't really trying to kick her out as much as to do something that would help him save face. From what we saw at how hard he tried to get her back to school, is seems if he did succeed he would try to get her unkicked out...

It seems in character...in the beginning he was very much of a act first, and then deal with the consequences later person, which showed his immaturity...And contrasted him will Duan Mulei.'s maturity..who could see everything a mile away. Which sort of explains why Yuxun liked him...he was very sure of the right thing, etc.

Duan Mulei had the best foundation in character...when he decides to get his act together, he should gain maturity back easily. Yunhai has to work for that same maturity.

^ LOL. This totally made me laugh. That whole washing hair scene made me laugh actually when I saw it. I kept thinking "way to be subtle about plugging that shampoo." I've always liked the Yuxin character in other adaptations because I do believe she cares about Yuxun, but in here she just seems unlikeable.

those are rmvb files. I already converted to avi files, but they are huge sleep.gif; it's going to take quite some time to upload. I need to finish downloading Happy Camp (in case anyone wants to sub this for non-Chinese speakers).

i totally agree with the last paragraph. he can gain maturity easily, but yun hai has to work for it. isn't he like the richest out of H4? therefore, he has wealth and luxury, he doesn't know much about others cause ppl have to look down when he looks at them.

wow. i love all the discussion that is going on here.
what i will like you guys to think about is the difference between the word friendship, love and habits.

friendship is much stronger that love as we all know it. it is what defines love and also give meaning to love, he we get to see how yu hai and Yuxun move from hatred to friendship to love.

love is what makes yu hai realalised that he needs to be responsible and motivated. through the girl he loves he was able to be who he was meant to be. so is the girl. i think that she only likes Duanmu because he is the complete opposite of yu hai. she does not wants to admit that she likes yu hai because she is scared to her own feelings, and how their relationship will go. therefore in a way i think that both Duanmu and the girl, in a way are using each other, so that they will not have to face their true feeling.

habit? i choose this word because it reminds me of the main lead (guy) in coffee prince who liked the female second lead out of habit. meaning he cared about her, but not enough to love her. the relationship the second female lead shared with the second main lead is what he envived not the woman herself.
the smae thing can be seen in yuxun. i think that she wants to be loved, and cared for. seeing the way Duanmu treats the other lady makes her feel vulnerable that she will like to have a person like Duanmu.

these are my thought. but please advise me, if what i am trying to say s incorrect
