ok i rewatched the MV.. now i get it.. the guy with kinda long hair is rui and the guy with spikes is domyouji ... i thought the opposite before

the song reminds me of meteor garden.. same tune and beat ...

i will give this drama a try.. so it airs in august?...

LOL I WANTTTT to go to China >.< I'm supposed to go back at the end of July but my parents and my grandma and grandpa and relatives in China are so paranoid about swine flu -.-" My aunt has homes in both Xiamen, and Shanghai, but yea I went to Xiamen and it's BEAUTIFUL there...well the beaches are only good looking at night, but there's this ferryboat thingy majig that goes to this little tiny island called gu lang yu << I think, but no cars are allowed there, you have to either walk or ride a bike, it's amazing, I wonder if they filmed there the air is so fresh from pollution and they have the cutest little turtles. Teehee I bought two once and they both died T.T but yea. Trust me, the site is GOOD, and they have to best seafood....well maybe not compared to hongkong..but still

Interesting. You know with all the unfair bashing, it makes me wanna watch this drama even more. Hopefully, when it comes out, people will sub it. Yu Haoming is not very photogenic, but he is not bad-looking at all. He's imo actually very cute when u see him in videos (esp. during his Super Boys days).

Is this a remake of HYD or are they trying to pass it off as something different? I'm fine w/ remakes but if it isn't then this is a complete knock-off of HYD. A poor girl who attends a prestigious school ruled by 4 rich guys? Complete knock-off, no matter how hard they try to twist and change the plot, which from the looks of the MV, it seems like there are a lot of similar scenes from the manga.

(the context of the scene might be different. from the script, domyoji doesn't know "f3". they met the first day of school. so the 4 of them walking together is probably towards the end when they become top students of the school.)

The basketball scene is strange too becuase domyoji doesn't play against soujiro in the manga. They must be fighting about something else.

Am I the only one that thinks that the boys look extremely young? I mean, watching the Japanese and Korean "version" of the story was good for me because it makes you fall in love with the characters OVER and OVER again... which is the best part of the drama, imo.

But I can't find myself getting into this version of HYD because... the boys are so young.

Sure, I should just watch it for the story... but I can't help but shudder at the thought of the boys' real age.
But the girl is really cute though. I really have to give that much kudos to the casting.

Don't worry you are not the only one. They do look young but i think the guys are 22-24 in real life. The girl is 18. But i think that's what is interesting about this version. It feels authentically high school. (But the school they are attending is a university famous for finance and business administration.)

There are MANY similar scenes. You listed a couple.

From the pictures I have seen, "Shizuka" is the one always holding the violin. I heard "Rui" is just a musician whose forte is piano.

I have no doubt they took some elements out of the manga. How much? 10%? 20%? We'll have to wait and see. But some of the scenes you mentioned, I feel are transferable from drama to drama. Guy #1 sees Girl #1 with Guy #2 and gets jealous. Girl #1 likes Guy #2 but Guy #2 likes someone else. This kind of scheme is quiet popular in Asian romance dramas and mangas. It isn't exactly a signature storyline from HYD. Similarly, the rain scene was also in My Lucky Star and the girl was upset with the guy. But should Kamio sensei charge them for copyright just because you have a pair of lovers fighting in the rain? No. The story of how they ended up in the rain and why the girl was upset is completely different from HYD. I'll reserve my judgment until I see the context at which these seemingly similar scene are applied. At this time, I'll think of them as just recycling elements from Asian dramas in general. (I am only saying this b/c I read the script of the first episode and other than the bullying, there were no similarities. Later episdoes, I don't know.)

another piece of news that have surfaced: the director is no longer the person that directed the outsider (a taiwanese gang related idol drama). It was reported that he left the set at the beginning of film. Meteor Shower was directed by two people with history of making 琼瑶's book into dramas. (She's a famous romance novelist that writes super cheesy sweet stuff, the dramas are even more saccharin.) However, they and the scriptwriter promise that the dialogue will be suitable for the setting and background of the story. No cheesy stuff. In fact, scriptwriter said he incorporated a lot of modern day jargon used by teenagers into the show.

One of the director, 沈怡, has recently ventured to make idol drams such as Smiling Pasta and Heaven's Wedding Gown. (So at least one guy has experience making an idol drama.)

I am not sure how to take this news. The reason I like the original director is because he said he has never watched any version of HYD and that he doesn't know the storyline. I thought he would be an ideal candidate to make this drama that "claims" to be original.

oh well, at least these two new directors promised a beautifully shot drama.

nope nope >.< zhanghan the guy with the bluish/black spicky tall black hair/ more manly looking one is domyouji...the long reddish hair that's pulled back is rui Although at first I though yu hao ming looks like a domyouji but he certainly makes a great rui >.< at first i thought the hair was going to be horrid but it actually makes him look like one(at least how i imagined it) very classic/ sleek/ clean/ and just in a way calm

Just watched the MV... twice, and I can say I'm starting to love this drama already. Don't get why they say the main guys are fugly, they are handsome.. maybe excluding that one guy though.. And plus the main guy/girl look like they actually belong together. Hopefully someone subs this.

I think Haoming & Weichen (?) should switch roles, weichen looks more of a quiet type.. otherwise I'm pretty satisfied with roles But erg, why'd they have to have the rui character have orange hair... ruined it for hyunjoong in bbf, and the guy in this drama looks way better with black hair :\

Since i'm really bored and can't fall asleep....let's analyze the scenes.

2: girl turns princess at a ball

3: I'm in college!
I just realized that none of the dramas I've seen have people happy about getting into college....

4: Four guys walking out
Copying Three Musketeers again

5:2nd lead holding girl's instrument, hugs, guy gives girl flowers
Prince Charming definitely gave Snow White flowers

7: Carousel scene
more common in MV's than in dramas, I don't recall one in any dramas.
Here, 3rd lead falls in love with 1st lead's older sister. They hug, kiss, and she leaves him. Poor Wei Chen.

8: girl yells out on speaker
there's a scene in Smiling Pasta like this, but no major resemblance...and Cyndi was confessing, this girl seems mad

9: bathroom scene
overused

10: mianren/ flour figures of the main couple!
oh, come on, how many dramas have that? The only one similar I can think of is in Legend of the Condor Heroes, where Huang Rong makes dolls of the couple.

11:rock-climbing race/lead suicide?/lead and third wheel praying at giant golden Buddha.
Having an awesome Buddha statue itself is definitely a plus, though praying is definitely copying the Biblical stories.

12: 4th and 1st leads basketball fighting
classic remake of medieval duals.

13: leads gain up on the bad guys
tisk, tisk, tisk, riping-off wuxia dramas, too?

14: bicycle scene
Didn't the OC have a bicycle scene in the first couple of episodes?

oh, btw. Wei Chen's also a director. Wei Chen directed Zhu Zixiao's basketball scene because the director had to help both groups at the same time since he was also the martial arts director. (the drama was split into "Group A" and "Group B", with the more minor cast split in two so they won't have to be there all the time and to speed up production)
