Hi everyone,
I've never watched the Taiwan version but have watched the Korean and Japanese Hana Yori Dango series and now I started watching this one. I put off watching it at first because I didn't think the F4 guys were as cute as the other versions. I'm very glad that I decided to start watching the series yesterday. I just finished episode 3 and I LOVE this drama. It's so funny and I like how it's realistic. I like seeing them in class and how the teachers are portrayed realistically as not putting up with the boys' nonsense. Also I love the main girl actress. She's cute and can act. Of the F4, I love three of them but I'm having a problem trying to connect with the guy who's supposed to be the "Rui" character. I feel that he doesn't have as much personality as the other three. Maybe I'll change my mind as I continue watching the rest of the series. I'm impressed with the acting on the show also. I do love how they've changed some things in this drama like the F4 growing up together because it makes me feel like I'm watching a different show. I'm looking forward to seeing how the boys will change and who they will end up with.
Hello there! I agree completely with everything you mentioned, it was exactly the same for me when I first started the drama. (Well except that I have seen the Taiwan & Korean versions, but not the the Japanese one.) Honestly, what put me off from watching the drama at first was: 1) "Ehh
another HYD remake?" 2) After watching the MV teaser I didn't think 3/4 guys were good-looking at all. 3) I had never watched a modern Mainland drama before so I didn't know what it would be like. But I looked past those things and decided to watch anyway because despite how I didn't think the guys were cute, the footage in the teaser got me wondering what the storyline would be like. (Plus I thought the main girl was pretty, so.

) I'm super glad I decided to watch because it's now one of my all time favorite dramas ever. And I was certainly proved wrong-- 1) It's far from a remake, more like an adaptation. I love the changes they made because it makes everything more, like you said, realistic and refreshing. And from the moment I figured out that Yunhai had no relations with H3 initially, I knew there would be many more (pleasant) surprises (changes) to come. 2) They ARE good-looking haha. I'm pretty sure part of it is that they grew on me a lot as the drama progressed, but really, after watching the guys out of costume in real life on variety shows and interviews-- they really are super SHUAI. There's just
something about their hair & outfits in the drama that don't do them any justice o_O especially for Yu Haoming (Duanmu Lei aka Rui). Even Wei Chen (Ye Shuo) didn't look so good in there imo, when in real life he's an absolutely cutie. (There's something about his hair.. and voice.. idk.) Lol I can go on forever with this but I won't.. 3) Modern Mainland productions are underrated, apparently. I'm glad MS is able to shine and hopefully it will get people interested in other modern productions too.
