The Hardest Thing

EDIT: Well we were just friends. I know that that might make some people scoff and think "Then what's the big deal?" But to be completely honest, we might as well have been in a relationship. Even when we had our last talk, it fell straight into the break up category.
So that eliminates any, "maybe there's someone else," "he's doesn't want you anymore" and etc answers.
Sorry if that angers anyone but I meant to start this off as an "in general" question so I didn't mention that we were just friends - even if we were a "special" case.
It's the hardest thing I'll ever have to do
To look you in the eye
And tell you I don't love you
It's the hardest thing I'll ever have to lie
To show no emotion when you start to cry

_ the question was about pushing someone away when you still have feelings.
to answer the question myself....if i can think of any reasons..
i probably can't give you anymore ideas than dramas can.
..there's always some sort of belief/self-imposed denial.. that "it's better off this way"
.O' suspicions of a writer's block goes to the op. lol.

LOL i just didn't want to bring in too many personal things.
i just don't understand how, if you really cared, you can look at someone and tell them that you don't. because if it hurts to talk to them, but it hurts to push them away, then isn't it better to be hurt but at least have them around? o.0

in dramas, i've read/heard about
- pushing someone away because you're going to die, wanting them to hate you - haru haru.. lol
- pushing someone away because it will save their life
- pushing someone away because you don't want them to suffer a life of scheduled phone calls and nights IMing you, when they can just find someone new _ long distance r.ships
...i would think that being around the person you loved and who hurt you wouldn't be such a great idea... o_O in terms of your emotions..
btw. that's a very moving quote.

maybe it would never work out anyway, or they figured the person (and maybe themselves) would be happier without each other. There are many reasons, most are valid. If someone wants to leave, let them.

could be because, they don't feel the same for eachother (anymore), or because they know they are going to hurt the other person
...i think there are some many reasons. but if someone wants to leave. as hard as it may be, let them leave

Maybe because the girl does not love him anymore. So because he wants her to be happy, he set her free? ..
Or maybe he don't think things will work out, so its better she forgets about him. If he's about to die.
Maybe he think hes not good enough for her, so he don't want to be a burden to her.
