you can also subsitute the word LOVE for KNOW. . . ie, know yourself before you know others.

but anyways.. loving yourself doesnt mean to be vain or whatever.. it just means to accept who you are and be happy with it. once you're happy with you are and what you have to give, you can finally find someone else to share that happiness and giving with.
