i know i dont >__< i dont want to smell/taste the sourness!!
but my mom always pours some in a cup and microwaves it.
if it looks like cottage cheese then she'll toss the milk.
if it doesnt.. she'll still use it.
idc if it doesnt look like cottage cheese afterwards..
i def WILL NOT drink it if it's past the expiration date!!
so do you trust the expiration date label that's on the carton or any other food labels???
hahah is this a weird topic? ^^

well, I dont like milk anyway so I wouldn't drink it either way. . . but my mom forces me to drink it everyday, so if the milk expires a few days later, I would not drink it. D:

Although expired milk seems disgusting... cheese is still good.

At a family friend's house one time for dinner, my mom gave my brother some milk from a carton that looked different from the cartons we usually get. So my mom just assumed it was buttermilk (I don't know anyone who actually drinks buttermilk by itself, but there you have it) and didn't read the label for some reason. She poured the rest of the carton into my brother's cup. My brother drank some and said it tasted and smelled funny, but my mom said it was only because it was buttermilk. My brother had no choice but to finish it.
Then the family friend noticed the carton in the trash can and asked my mom if someone had drank the milk.
Apparently, the milk in the carton was spoiled, but no one in the household had bothered to throw it out
I start to smell the milk in the cartons when I'm approaching the expiration date. You're right - sometimes the milk expires before the date marked on the carton.

my jug of milk expired 5 days before the date that was said.
my sister drank it and thought the smell was just the cup ._.

it's the SELL BY date.
when the product should be sold by.
you can still drink it a couple days later.
but you should still always make sure it smells alright. >w<;

If not, I usually abide by the sell by date-- the most I'd go is one day past it.

Sometimes the milk expires before the date and sometimes it doesn't expire until a week later of the due date.

new york milk is really weird, you know.
like the new york city date expires a few days earlier than NY State..which I don't get...
but i still drink it until the NY state expiration date anyways.

my mom shoves it down my throat by giving me a HUGE cup and not letting me not finish it.
but i think you should trust the expiration date, and sometimes not even.
even if its before the expiration date, you should always smell it first.
