I ended up going undecided. xD I'm still in marching band and taking concert band/music-related courses, though I can't seem to make up my mind. I play the flute/piccolo, and though I've played piano & guitar for a few years, I suck at those. xD
If I end up going into music it'll probably be music ed though.

Im going to community college rite now but im planning to transfer to a university in Korea or NY for theater major or just vocal major
& maybe do composing? I would to sing & dance so why not do theater? haha. but idk what id do after college unless i join like a broadway act or maybe go into the entertainment industry in korea as a singer. >< I was unsure if i should do music cuhs idk what id do with it after but i love it so yeah. & its my dream to be a singer so i guess ill just go for that? haha. everyones been pressuring me to do graphic design since its more stable & i was gna but i decided after alot of thought to do community college & explore different things & then decide but idk. why is so hard to pick? >< Are any music majors rite now like this? im having a hard time.. i love music but everyone keeps pressuring me to do something else & it feels right that i do music cuhs i love it but it seems wrong @ the same time? i was gna just go to fashion school for graphics but too much money & what not so cc it is. im still uncertain on if i really should do music. & i wanna learn guitar as well.. sigh, i sometimes wish i was like a medical major something or didnt have much interest in music then if be so much easier since its more stable. are any music major or going to be music majors having the same problem?
sorry for ranting.. i just needed to get it out there. yay music majors!

take music theory and put a lot of focus on chord progession. there's rules to follow. i took theory but only because it was required. pretty much useless unless
1. you're want to be a composer/arranger
2. you play piano
3. you're a jazz musician
i'm a flute player. yeah, no creativity here. i just play whats on paper. I play for the U.S. Army Band. It's a sweet gig.
edit: I just realized how old this thread is.... OMG.
but yeah, i played all thru middle and high school. i got to college and didn't do music because my mom told me "You won't do nothing with a music degree."
Look at me now mom!!!
I missed playing a lot and it found its way back to me. i say if you love it, stick with it.

give it a try. don't ever pass something up that you want to do just because you don't think you can do it. you never know till you try.
and if you really wanna play it i'm sure you will be able to. its all about dedication and practice ^^b
ex-music major here, pianist/keyboardist. but i also play quite a few other instruments, along with vocal work.
i've gotta say, there's really nothing like music, and simply arts in general. they're so freeing and expressive.

Jazz guitar performance major here. Although I am thinking of more practical options at the moment. I have been told that if you can't see yourself playing as a career, then do something else. I may switch majors at some point, but at least I was able to follow my passion to a certain extent. I have met amazing people along the way and have learned some skills that I probably would have never learned had I not been a music major.
