is ipod touch 2.2 software worth the upgrade for $9.95?
i'm using the 1st generation of ipod touch right now
i was wondering if i should upgrade it or not.....since it's been a long time.

but the most important thing is:
will there be a lot of games/apps that are free from the app store?
i don't want to upgrade it and then find out that all the game/apps cost money.

it also seems that the "jailbreak" hype has disappeared?
i don't hear anyone desperately trying to jailbreak their ipod touches anymore....
yeah i'm kinda bored with my ipod touch right now...
i was thinking that it will become more exciting if i upgraded my ipod touch lol
i guess i'm looking for newer features (like new apps/games) so i'll be interested in my ipod again

The jailbreak even works for the newest 2.2.1 people still jb just not as needed anymore.

if i had already jailbroken my ipod touch 1st generation (not 2.0+ software)
can i still update it to 2.2 on itunes without problems?
or i need to like "reformat" my ipod touch before doing the upgrade?

just wondering what kind of free apps are available online?
are they mostly from the app store in the ipod?
it just doesn't seem apple will provide so many free apps through the app store lol

You're gonna have to reformat, I didn't know this either, but yeah, for the 2.2 update on my 1st Gen 32GB iPod Touch, I had to reformat. Thankfully, you can still back up all your stuff using iPhoneBrowser for windows.

ok so i successfully updated my 1.1.5 firmware to 2.2.1 firmware
how do i download free apps onto my ipod touch?
i want to download some free apps from the itunes store, but they require an apple account (which requires your credit card information)

You need to make that account even if its free... at the end of the week they will even send you a receipt that says you owe them $0.00 if you're paranoid like me, go get a $5 itunes card and use that.

i downloaded most of the top free apps =)
i don't think there is a need to jailbreak.....unless i get bored with the free apps.

not really....
there's actually a way to upgrade to firmware 2.0+ for 1st generation users without paying
all you do is get the firmware file from another source (not directly from itunes, which means you're paying $9.95)
