If you have a Mac, Final Cut is a widely use program by professionals. They also have garage band where you can easily find music presets, and mix and match with your on songs, recordings, make your own recordings on the mac, etc.

If your a more technical user, Adobe Premiere and Adobe Audition works great. I know a few but forgot em awhile back.

I have FL Studio 8, haven't gotten to use it yet. My friend has it and has been making a lot of cool things with it lately.
Sucks that you have to pay though.

I first started using Fruity Loops. Then Adobe Audition. Now I just keep it basic and use GarageBand for my Mac.

Starting since yesterday I used Virtual DJ when we're doing it up on Soompi Radio Club internet radio station.

Just in case you find any good programs for making music, use keygen (programs like that are for trial only)....keygen will remove the trial version and make it a permanent program on ur PC

I'm sorry, but keygens are mostly infected. There are several release groups that are legit, but again, this is something not to be discussed about since it's illegal.

the industry standard program to record audio is protools (there are big expensive setups, and there are small portable ones that cost a few hundred)

to produce music nowadays the popular programs are propellerhead reason 4.0 and apple logic studio

mariah carey's "ill be lovin u long time" was produced with reason 4.0
so was most of kanyes "cant tell me nothing/goodlife/bigbrother"
park jin young used reason at one point also to create tracks

anything in the last two years done by bryan michael cox was done in logic (day26, mariah, usher, maryjblidge, etc.)
and part of ti/rihanna "live your life" was done in logic

the best free solution would probably be to look online for the full versions of propellerhead reason 4.0 or fl studio (for production) and adobe audition (for recording/editing audio)

any questions pm me

Just to get this clear, keygens and "full-version" downloads are not legal. I don't pass judgment on those who choose to download but pirated software should not be openly suggested in public until all other alternatives have been exhausted.

For Windows users not interested in paying for software, give Ubuntu Studio a shot. There are a few more open-source audio (and video) production suites but Ubuntu has one of the easiest setups.

Wikipedia has a list of free/open audio software:

On the mac, Garage Band, Logic Express and Logic Studio. If you see YG reality tv shows, like 2NE1 TV, you'll see YG use Macs, very likely they are using Logic Studio.

There is a free older synth - Rebirth RB 338 program where you can get for free PC program here (http://www.rebirthmuseum.com/), there are youtube vids where some people review it (for the iPad, but its same for PC except you have to use mouse and not touch).

Audacity is free.... or use Pro Tools if you are a musician and want a fully fledged one.

I had mixcraft, and its really goood....
Its simple and neat and pretty easy and organized...It even has a loook.
Not like those boring looking ordinary, complicated programs...
Its like the PC version of garageband (MAC)........
