Then there are people who have to work hard for their success. Hahaha having a competitive spirit doesn't hurt either.
Sadly, I belong in neither group hahaha.

I never always got 90s + all throughout my life. Middle school was around 80s but when I entered high school I got 99s. I never realized I could get good grades. All throughout my life until now, I thought it was impossible for me.

i sound like im bragging but i think thats how most of the kids in my school (a very smart very asian school) are. we're not hard workers. we were just naturally born with a clever way of thinking.. yeah.

for me, most of them come naturally to me because everything you're taught, atleast to me, it's logical, so it must make sense.
and take good enough notes, pay attention, it's all common sense, right?(:
but i don't listen to half of what i listed there. i pay attention just enough in class, not all of it, and i procrastinate way too much.
i guess part of it is from your parents. my dad was a mathematics professor and my mom was a valedictorian throughout highschool.
i grew up mainly through private school. just recently i started going into public, so comparing myself to a kid who's been in public school for the majority of it all, it's just different.
i usually pay attention in class, but that was because of the environment in the classrooms, there are almost 18-20 kids at the most in each grade. sooo, we all paid more attention to the teacher because the teacher actually really interacted with you more.
but now, there's like about 25-30 students in each class.
i was almost always in the 90-100 range in school, even now.
i remember one time in second grade, i came home with a 70 on a grammar test because i didn't study at all.
and my parents were all upset about it, and i got disciplined and had a lot of stuff taken away from me. :c
ever since then, i always strived for atleast the 80-90 range.
my parents are super strict with education. they're so proud of me and my siblings. and they're too prideful, they expect us to be like them too, i guess.
they said i was going to end up being a bum and should just start picking up cans to make a living if i wasn't at the top of my class.
D: i mean how harsh can you get?
having this from your own FAMILY.
andd, sorry for such the long post. xp

But of course, there ARE simple ways that i know will help boost your mark dramatically with minimal effort, such as reading notes you tkae that day, getting enough sleep 6 hours at least, seriously concentrated when listening in class (its easier said than done, its seriously, really hard, its not just, listening to every word, or stuff like that ...)
Um, and to answer your questions...
life was, people always asking me for help, so phone was always ringing ... always stressing for school stuff (even thou i didnt work, it was like... test the next day, but im gaming 10 hours the day before, and during those 10 hours i would be a bit freaked that im not studying and stuff like that, where as some ppl just dont really care about their marks)
i did well in subjects i didnt like, i just had to work a bit for them, like french or english or history
ive always gotten A's
i do well for myself, but doing bad brings up the image of parents

I remember in kindergarten we had to take home books..
Being Asian I knew absolutely no English...
The first night I couldn't read my book I brought home...But I didn't care I was gonna bring it back to school the next day so the other white kids wouldn't think I was stupid or something....
But my dad wouldn't let me until I read it...I mean his English is horrible why should I listen to him?
Anyways..I eventually finished the 10 page or so book in a week...
After that first book, I couldn't stop..I just kept going and going...
That's what my parents tell me..The only part I remember clearly is wanting to bring the book back...
I think that's why I get good grades in high school now...

owh yeah we are~~~~~~~~XXD
haha...dont kill me..
well, most of the stereotypes are like this..for me anyway...
'chinese are smart'
'japanese are hardworking'
i know a lot of chinese ppl...and this is what i see from them..the ones i knew anyway..
1) they study smartly - not cramming notes and stuff.they look for lots of questions and do it.
2) they dont stay up late at night - most that i know sleep around 9-11pm
3) they study consistently - revise and all those stuff. reading notes before class..
i'm asian but when i heard of those stereotypes..i only think of chinese and japanese..sorry..
and as for me, i'm really not dat smart and i even scored the lowest in my whole grade (haha,,but seriously,,i did)
the next year, i put in a little effort to my studies and got second highest place..(the top scorer is of japanese descendant..i cant beat her~~XXD she's like a walking encyclopedia)
my friends called me 'the slacking genius'...which is kinda embarassing to me..i think what helps me is that..i have a good memory, pay attention in class and my ability to simplify things like hardcore formulas and excrutiatingly painful things to memorize..:]
well, the core things is that...WE PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS..XD

work for it. i read a lot, too. it helps a lot. when i was in grade school and high school, i was part of the best section; being in the star section made me competitive. since almost all the smart ones belong in that class, i can't just slack
off. you can say that most of my classmates back then were grade-conscious >___< but it gave me motivation...
and the pressure, to do my best all the time.

She started to teach me when I was 3 because she was a teacher.
That's when I started to learn math and whatnot.
I don't think I'm that smart but I do make the A's...
I would say I do it for my parents and myself.
It's the pressure, plus I'm also an only child.

I don't think us asians are necessarily smarter than other races -- it's just that we try harder, most of the time because of pressure from the 'rents.

well last year my gpa was a 0.80 or something...terrible.
and this year i had like 3.14.
and i even scored the best grade in my spanish test, even tho there was fluent spanish speakers in that class.
i think we all grasp information at the same rate, and even then the difference is minimal. I think what really counts is how hard you work and how efficiently you study for it.
The only thing i wish i can improve upon are my physical skills and other talents that other people seem to have...
i don't think i have any talents at all =(

I'm the type who has to work my butt off to get that A. I complete all my assignments and projects with a 90% or above score which balances my grade because I barely pass my exams, which are usually C's or B's.
My best friend is rank #1 in our class and if anyone dares to take that spot away from her, she'll kill you. Literally.
So I'm happy being #4 in class.
