I notice and am annoyed more by the idiots than the conformists. Actually, I never really noticed the conformists. But I often find myself appalled at the immaturity of a lot (most) of the Soompi members here. I know a large portion is at least five or six years younger than I am, but I REALLY don't recall being that ignorant or gullible at the same age. I worry for them. There are also A LOT of overly-sheltered kids out there. I always considered myself pretty sheltered too (grew up in middle-class, predominantly Asian neighborhoods), but not clueless about the world.

I've learned that soompi is a great place to get info on almost anything. or DIY on random things. Tech...
A GREAT place for advices in relationship, fashion, health, food.... etc.
Meeting great online asian friends!! who share the same interest!

Depending on the situation, to the point of having no empathy of other things because they're concern about their own feelings.

I've been on many different boards and in general (not all, just some) boards like soompi is a place where nationality is a concern for the people that state themselves by it.

LOL i know where you are talking about - that abalone is crazzzzy crazy!
I have learnt ... there are so many friggin fan girls! you say one thing that upsets them or is not the norm in that thread and its like OMG they are going to hunt you down and kill you
like in the ABB and JM thread - people who say "oh they are just models, nothing special" dduuuuddee u are looking for a beat-down ¬_¬
I have also learnt than a lot of the people on soompi are very close-minded - alot of people being the fan-girls
I have also learnt, despite all of this
Soompi is quite addicting!

You said it.
I learned that the general discussion section doesn't have threads from the older days anymore that are before 2007. That is sad to me
The stuff I remember from the older days and when I was a younger poster are gone. The other sections on the forums however still have threads from earlier years.

i have also learned that reading comprehension is not mandatory for replying to posts... and apparently neither is reading the OP nor any of the following responses.
those prepubescent kiddies will pounce if you say a word against their precious SNSD, SuJu, etc.
H.O.T was precious to me in my day, but they're gone now. So will your groups
It makese me laugh when these kids try and debate on topics they have absolutely no education or experience on.
I've learned that if your post is more than 3 short sentences long...people probably won't read it!
LOL Which is why I try to make all my post long so only intelligent beings will hopefully answer.
I've learned that kids are major spoiled nowadays. What business does a 13 y.o. have with a Chanel/Gucci/Coach etc. purse?
I grew up with parents who said, if it's expensive and you want it, YOU get a job and buy it...
That I feel like a pedo for even looking through the 411 thread...everyone is friggin 13 in there posting "sexy mirror pics," WTF?! creeps me out.
That no one buys circle lenses from Korea...even though it's a Korean product (I'm guilty...)
I learned that it's apparently okay to ask the same question in a thread 50,000 times and you'll either get rudely directed to a previous answer by a 15 year old,
or occasionally someone nice will answer you again.
Oh and no one follows the rules...(i.e. quoting pics, sigs, asking where to buy circle lens...yep...)

i learned that people are HARDCORE -
hardcore in their obsessions, hardcore in their fandom, hardcore in their dedication, hardcore in their obstinance, hardcore in their need for acceptance, hardcore in their need for community -
for better or for worse, SOOMPI has been my baby for 11 years this month - a labor of love/hate/frustration/admiration for our many & varied members.
i remember starting the 'real world' forum specifically because i wanted people my age to talk to - about anything and everything.
honestly, this thread made me pretty sad, though it's hard to disagree with most of things said in here ;P
but i figure if you're even responding to a thread like this, it means you're still here at SOOMPI for a reason, and it can't all be bad ^^;
bummer remix aside, things are a-changing at SOOMPI, and i don't want the 20/30/40/etc voice to be overlooked.
we'll be having a lot of polls and feedback tools to get input in prioritizing our development.
it's yet to be announced, but i recently quit my job and started working on SOOMPI full-time as of Feb 18. i believe in the potential of SOOMPI -- to be better at what it is already good at, which is providing a community for people who may otherwise feel disconnected, overlooked, or just bored ;P i also want to provide a platform for asian-am/asian artists to reach their fans/fans-to-be. simply put, i want to bring asians (and those who love us) together. *dramatic music and flags waving behind me*
btw, i'm so happy to see HERMIT is still around. i see you've still your wit (^_~)

The feeling is mutual!
I'm equally as proud and appreciative of your effort, patience, and dedication with what you have been able to accomplish with your website. So really, it's no wonder that I've been able to stick around: you've continually improved upon it and have always made sure that there was something there for everyone.
And for that, you should be commended.

^ Wah, has it really been 11 years? Wow, I've been coming to soompi since the site opened pretty much, so I've seen how much your site has grown.
That all sounds awesome though I can't wait to see the changes! *applause* for Soompi!! I still reminisce about coming here to look at H.O.T. & Sechskies pics back then...LOL
Although this is the first year, well last year, I've really participated in the forums, for real.

I'd like to think that is in a good way. When I made this thread I'd thought that it would be great to have something like this. A feeling caught up to me which inspired me to do a thread sharing what memories you have on this site throughout your time here. Will say that it is a pleasure and am glad to have known a nice place like this through the years I have spent my time visiting. Having been able to experience what I seen and admire, it has helped me to carry myself on in life.
