I would, too. I think it's 'cause it'd make me feel like I have no chance with him since he has so many attractive girls around him.
as if he'd just brush me off and date one of his friends instead because I'm not as pretty as them.. or something along those lines.
not to say that guys are shallow, of course, but that would be one of my worries.

In my opinion, you should befriend anyone you want to be friends with because your personalities click well. It's stupid and overthinking it to try to sculpt your friends list by thinking things like "I want x number of female friends, y number of male friends, z percent of the female friends should be unattractive so I'm not too intimidating and don't make potential love interests jealous" etc. etc. If you happen to become friends with a fair number of girls who could be considered attractive then so be it. Why give up those friendships just because it might, in theory, make some other girl who might be interested in you jealous? It would intimidate me somewhat to see a guy I was interested in surrounded by much more attractive female friends and I might get slightly jealous, because I'd think he'd go for one of them before he'd look at me and he's probably shallower than I'd like, but I still think it's ridiculous to weigh the physical attractiveness of your potential friends and then decide whether to become friends or put some distance.

I definitely agree with this. That's the other side of my previous statement that "it's ridiculous to weigh the physical attractiveness of your potential friends and then decide whether to become friends," but looking at my previous post I didn't really bring that point up explicitly.

for the most part i dont really care
but some of them are really flirty and touchy with him
and those i dont like.
