When I woke up this morning I noticed a little bump in the corner of my upper lip. It kind of grew even bigger cause I just couldn't stop touching it (a habit of mine. I can't keep my hands away from pimples, herpes, etc. T_T)

I remember worrying/stressing over something yesterday night and I read that herpes comes from stress, so I'm guessing this thing on my lip MUST BE herpes.

I already appeared different kinds of creams, including vaseline but nothing works so far.

What can I do to make it go away quickly? Or should I just continue appearing vaseline and wait a little longer? Please help me! >.<

-edit-

apparently, this thing on my lip is a cold sore. you get it from sharing food/drinks with other people, or just by getting in contact with a perosns lips who has a cold sore.
according to you guys, Abbreva is the most helpful thing against it. So, if anyone has the same problem, this should be helpful! Thank you everyone for your help! =]

I thought you only get herpes from having sex with someone else that has herpes?

And go to your doctor, and ask about it, im pretty sure its not herpes that you got

Cold sores are a type of herpes, no? Just not anywhere as problematic.

I'm not sure how it's called in english (grew up saying it in chinese, even though I was born in America), but is it a "nup chong?"
If so, just wait out the uncomfortable days to come, and it'll disappear before you know it.

Wrong section.

Also, there are two kinds of herpes. Not sure which one you have though. But I'm thinking it's not the one that looks like a bunch of grapes.
I have internet connection problems.

And no, I don't have a 411...yet.

It's a cold sore. That's a type of 'herpes'. I think you can get it when you share food/drink with or kiss someone who has 'herpes', but not the sex kind. It's contagious, but some people never have cold sores because it just doesn't show. I think stress and fever/cold can also make a cold sore recur.

I get them whenever I'm fished being sick. I just apply lip treatments that you can find at the drugstore, and they eventually leave.

if i remember correctly from my biomed lectures....herpes simplex is a virus that u contract from somewhere....it never fully disappears, all it does is enter a latent phase (where its basically as if its dormant but its still there, u jus can't see it any more) but after time will show again...then after a while disappears back into the latent phase and it keeps goin in this cycle.

i don't think u can ever actually get rid of it. the only treatment i know thats been advertised on tv etc is something called zovirax? i think all it does is make it not show up, but the virus is still there.

1/4 people have herpes.

Anyway, I think you just have what we deem a cold sore. I know there's this type of non-prescribed medicine called Abreva. Put it on and it'll go away quickly.

You have a cold sore, which is a type of herpes. It's not uncommon. It usually flares up when your immune system is weak like when you have the flu, stressed and didn't get enough sleep. Buy Abreva at a drugstore. It's like $15 at a drugtsore for a tiny tiny tube. Use it and will heal much faster. Why would you put Vaseline on it???? It won't do anything...

That's what I heard about it too.

Abbreva? I hope they sell this stuff in Germany o.o;; And I put Vaseline on it cause I kinda didn't know what else to do. Yes, I'm desperate xD I was sure it wouldn't help anyways.

Thanks for the help, guys!

coldsores are herpies.

herpies comes in two forms
simplex 1 is the common coldsore , etc
simplex 2 is genital herpies which can be transmitted without having sex as long as your skin makes contact but the odds of that are slim.

1/4 people in america have simplex 1. its nothing to worry about . it should go away in a week or so but its gonna be annoying to eat and stuff. if it gets to annoying try putting honey on it and if you want it to heal asap you can gurgle salt water to kill the bacteria. but it will hurt. like hell. also brush your teeth thoroughly

itll probably go away soon but only temporarily. i think i remember my prof saying that once you contract it ... the cold sore itself will actually go away..but the virus goes into a latent phase (where it resides somewhere i cant remember lool.) but yeah during that time you wont see it but eventually u'll get another cold sore...and the cycle repeats
