These are good tips! Some I've heard before, but it's good to be reminded every once in awhile.

But I don't understand number 3... why is it bad to watch T.V. while eating ? mellow.gif

It distracts your brain from knowing when you're not hungry anymore. It takes long enough, like 15 minutes, for the receivers to transmit the message and adding the distraction will just make things slower. In result, you'll be overeating

I'd be careful when eating potatoes. They are a simple carb. Just don't overindulge just because
they have 0 grams of fat doesn't mean you can't get fat eating them. Unused carbs turn into fat essentially.
Carb control not elimination is the key.

The first one does make sense.

A lot of health experts recommend eating in the same place while sitting down at your meals [Like your dining table for example]. When you eat while standing your brain starts to associate those places wtih food. If you're standing in the kitchen and chomping down your dinner, your brain will start to feel like "eating" when you pass through the kitchen or et cetera. Try to associate less places with food and keep it to a single location. Keeps the temptations and impulses away.

i don't get this number 12

im pretty sure eating after exercising is good for you cus your metabolism is at its fastest, and usually after you exercise people tend to not get that hungry because of of something your body creates after working out (i forgot what its called but i remember reading it somewhere) oh and exercising right after eating is not good for digestion cus food is still in your stomach and your body will burn away the food you just ate rather then the fat on your body..

so its better to work out after eating??? But doesn't that cause stomach pains and indigestion? And i also heard that your metabolism is highest half an hour after working out. Oh and a friend of mine actually does work out after eating but he states that its because he builds muscle and gains mass easier that way.

I disagree partially with

#12. "Exercising before you eat just makes you hungrier. Exercise AFTER eating when the body has to work harder to digest food."

It is very important to eat after exercising. The reason you are hungrier is because the body needs the nutrients (this does not imply that you should pig out), thus ghrelin levels will obviously be high. If you deprive yourself of this you are only hurting your body. I can go more in-depth but just know it's important to eat after exercising.

One-third of your caloric intake should be coming from fats. That being said, they should be healthy unsaturated fats from nuts and stuff. I believe there's an over-concentration of society against consuming fat. I know for guys, without enough fat-intake there would not be enough testosterone being produced and hence not as much muscle growth. The key is to understand physiology of the human body enough to make smart guidelines.

Exercise AFTER eating? Yes, but also ALWAYS EAT AFTER EXERCISE. Contrary to what most people believe, you don't get fat from eating a bunch of stuff after exercising. There are two times the body has an increased insulin sensitivity, in the mornings and after exercise. That means, your cells that need nutrients absorb the nutrients without requiring a lot of insulin. And a lot of insulin simply allows ALL cells to absorb stuff (you don't want this because this includes fat cells). What happens after exercise, is that your body has an increased insulin sensitivity. Which means that you can eat pretty much anything (well not anything), but you can eat a lot and you can feel safe that most of it won't go to your fat. When you eat after (adequately heavy) exercise, the nutrients go straight to your muscles and the cells that need it. NOT the fat. So don't be afraid to eat after exercise. And girls, don't think you'll grow butch just because you eat a lot after exercise. Because that does not happen.

That being said, interesting thread!
