American Idol Official Website

The eighth season of American Idol premiered on January 13, 2009. Judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson are judges once again, along with Ryan Seacrest as host. This season introduced Kara DioGuardi as the fourth judge on the Idol panel.

The Host:

Contestants are required to be between the ages 16 and 28 on July 15, 2008 and eligible to work in the United States. Those ineligible include former contestants who reached the top 40 of past seasons, (although those who made the top 50 during season 7 are eligible if they meet all other eligibility criteria), and those holding recording or management contracts or those who are not US citizens or landed immigrants (i.e. temporary residents).

For this season, the Hollywood round moved to the Kodak Theatre, which was previously used for the season finale from seasons 1-6. In addition, the Hollywood round was extended to two weeks. The Top 36 will be announced in a special two-hour broadcast on Wednesday, February 11, 2009.

I'm so with you about Anoop and Jamal. Season 8 has many so many incredible singers that even from the auditions it's hard not to notice them. Anoop's voice was amazing and it saddens me that he lose with a small margin to Micheal. ALexis and Danny are quite predictable to be guy's and girl's fave since I think they both rocked the song.

Anoop... please comeback to the wild card show. Anybody knows how the wild card show works? Are they going to have all the unchosen ones to sing or they'll choose another 12 or so? I'm quite not sure..

I fell in love with Danny's voice and story since the beginning. However, I feel as if besides the votes for his amazing voice, there are many sympathy votes as well ... which shouldn't be, because this is a Talent Show .... and as for the "darkness" about him, I can't explain, hahah.

Tatiana! Lord, that girl is CRAZY! Yet, I was SO surprised that she was so calmed and collective .... but girl can sing!

This year, they had way too many talented people, and half of those that are on Top 36, shouldn't even be there, I mean, they had a lot of great singers to choose from ..... It will be in interesting season.

P.S// I LOVE ADAM! (and Anoopdawg) Adam definitely stands out from the rest, his voice is unique (which is what the show needs) and I'd buy his music any day.
