I've been playing a lot of Enigma, Invoker, and Bloodseeker lately, though.

I started playing around the 6.46 era because of some of my friends, but I out-skilled them within a month or so.
I'm usually the team leader/impromptu-tactician because I have great map-awareness and I know when to gank, push, Rosh, or retreat.

The only person (that I met) on Soompi I've played DotA with before is Mina, but we're cursed.
No, really. For some reason, every game I play with her, we end up losing.
(my win ratio is probably around 80%-90% otherwise)

If you wanna play, drop me a PM/comment or something any time. We can hop on AIM or Ventrilo and we'll set up a game.
I mainly play on East (because of TDA), but I'll play on West if you want. (pubs are so disgusting, though.)

I'm in Australia, I don't think there's many Aus games on East Plus all my friends are on West. But I would come on East to play with soompiers I suppose, I never really got into the TDA thing.

I just started playing DotA and was wondering what's the best way to improve? e.g learning all the items combos for different heroes etc..

also which hero is easier for a beginner to play with? I've been reading that ranged heroes are easier for newbs. and also is it better to practice in single player mode before? because most people in pubs are generally not too friendly from what i saw lol

ehh just some starting tips, you sort of gonna have to get familiar with all hero skills and how they work in order to be farming(ricing) in your lane and how to counter them, levels matter. could decide a kill or not. also terrain could help out a lot (fog of war) use it to advantage. could surprise people sometimes. also with certain ganking heros i like to obs ward early in rivers/bottle up but depends on your team too.

for farming in lane try to practice last hitting which means when the creep hp gets low, move in to get the kill of it.
you can hold down alt to view the hp of the creeps, or there is an option somewhere in the menu.
