so i am considering cal state poly slo as an option...
i was talking with many people about ucr..
obviously... ucr has this bad image of being a school for the unmotivated, unintelligent, and undesirable people!
When i talked about ucr with other students around me, they all laughed and stated
"i'd rather go to a cal state... like cal state long beach!"
And so, i honestly don't get why ucr is defined as inferior to cal states.
so explain to me.
Which one would one go to :
Cal poly slo.
or
uc riverside?

UCR isn't as bad as people make it seem. There are smart people in that school...I don't think there is any unintelligent people there D:.
IMO, UCR will rise in the ranks in the near future because of the medical school they're getting. But honestly, it all depends on you. If you like the environment of the school, if it has the major you want, etc.

Academically, SLO and UCR should provide you the same undergraduate education with certains exception. Such as ability to have undergraduate and go immediately to an master programs.
Opportunity-wise, I'm not sure about SLO, if you are a science major then UCR provides you opportunity for research.

I should mention that the school you choose depends on your definition of an ideal college environment as well. I haven't been to UCR, but Cal Poly is sort of in a surburban area surrounded by a rural environment. It's like in the middle of San Francisco and Los Angeles, in terms of distance.

i would definitely choose SLO.
but SLO is better for my major so i guess it depends on that too. honestly though, i just dont like the sound of UCR...
