I am not a big fan of touch screen phones or having the world's slimmest phone either.

What I do like in my phone:
-decent camera with flash (love the light)
-battery life (longer = better)
-quality feel (hate cheap plastic feeling)

But most of all... I look for a good music player in my phone. I like listening to music on speakers. I know that expecting too much out of a tiny cell phone speaker is unreasonable but we have to admit that occasionally a company does put out a phone that can handle that task.

I like phones that can play music loud, well, louder than most phones.

Here are my two favs:

SE W810i

I am not a candy bar type of guy, personally love flip phones, but this phone is my utmost fav. Battery life is great and speaker quality is awesome comparing to what is out there.

SE P990i

I loved my Palm T|X, but too bad it isn't a phone. This comes close to what my T|X offers. The speakers on it has bass and does not sound flat like most others out there so I love this one too.

For me Sony Ericsson is the top choice when I am looking for a music playing phone.

How about you guys/girls?

... seriously what is up with people who like to play loud music from their phones in public (which i'm assuming that you'll be doing... because ... well cd players are pretty cheap...). Please, I honestly want to know what the thought process/justification is. It seriously me the wrong way when I have to sit on a bus and have to listen to some rather infelicitous music playing from a rather infelicitous speaker -which only makes the music sound worse. All I can wonder is: why do people like that think other people want to hear their music?

And I wish I could get started on the people listening to music on their ipods with those rather infelicitous stock headphones - you know the white ones that brand you as hip but have mini cooper sound and makes the music as loud for person sitting next to you as it does to the listener?

Maybe i'm just getting old and cranky.

^ Wow, it is your first post. Welcome to Soompi.

I know those annoying people who play their music loud on the bus, at the bus stop, in stores... yes they are plenty annoying. People who listen to their music crazy loud on their headphones are also annoying and are damaging their hearing.

I like having a loud speaker on my phone because whenever I am in my office or working opening shifts alone or stuck in the basement cleaning or wherever I don't have my stereo connected I like to have music to listen to. I grew up with walkmans, then cd players, then mini disc players, then mp3 players... now that I am getting older I am sick of plugging my ear up to listen to music.

But do trust that when I am on the bus I do not listen to my music on my phone or have my ringtone set to ring really loud. I actually always my phone on silent whenever I am out.

I have a little more respect for others than that. The usual suspects are disrespectful jerks that need to get some sense slapped into them.

Nobody else looks for sound quality in their phone?

GSM arena is testing for quality speakers in their latest reviews.

I had the LG vx9400.
The speakers on that thing were extremely good. I didn't even need to increase the volume to 2 in order to hear it from my room to the living room.

^ Those phones are pretty cool.

Over here in Canada, all we get are crappy budget models from cell phone companies. Unlocked GSMs are hard to look for and are expensive too.

Personal experiences:

Z710
I love this phone. I love flip phones. The camera sucks and it doesn't have a flash. The mp3 player is good, what you would expect from Sony Ericsson. The speaker quality is quite good for a phone this old. Sound doesn't sound flat and speaker is pretty loud. And battery life is excellent.

W380a
I like flip phones, but this one just doesn't feel good to hold. The camera sucks. The speaker quality is low and flat but the mp3 player is excellent though. Excellent battery.

RIZR Z3
I really dislike Motorola's GUI. I had three different Motorola phones in the past and they all suffer from annoying lags. The camera sucks, but it does have a flash light. Mp3 player application sucks and speaker quality sucks too, flat and low. Crappy battery life.

I'm currently using the Samsung F400, and if you slide the phone down, it has a custom speaker for music. It sounds really nice too. smile.gif The only suckish thing about this phone is its battery life is terrible, I have to charge it every night. And the screen scratches really easily. sleep.gif

^ I went out to test some Samsung phones and yeah I have to agree that Samsung's speakers are pretty nice. They have a full sound to them. Nokia is also at the same level too with their music phones. Having to charge your phone every night does suck. I have to charge my RIZR Z3 every two nights and it is so annoying already so I can imagine how you feel.
