i think the only asians really making a name out of themselves is Japan's Dir en grey. I think for a star to be big you need the money from touring, that's how you get known too. lol Dir en grey's been to the U.S. four times touring already!!...I think they're huge, selling out shows and all. I haven't seen a lot of asians sell out shows and being in almost every state other then new york and L.A.

I don't know about Charice. She has an amazing, powerful voice. And shes very talented and is able to speak English with a minimal accent. But it seems like everyone is more interested in hearing her do covers of famous songs for the wow factor then listening to her own songs.

until theres an asian american that does it first, i highly doubt there will be an asian/crossover singer that will make it (and i mean like, a-name-everyone-knows-make-it)
and i think it's a little weird that people always put Utada as 'japanese'. Utada is asian america; pretty sure she was born in ny.

whoever does it is going to have to be completely fluent in english.

AND i wish people would stop saying well so-and-so worked with so-and-so therefore it'll totally be a hit. honestly, no one cares of the song isn't that good.

this is true though. and they didn't (as far as i know) change themselves or 'make themselves up' for america.
i think maybe as 'imported music' they could do well. just not pop or household name type.

and for someone like utada, i kind of doubt becoming famous in america is a big deal because shes not a diva and she always sells well.

I say Charice. Almost all of them, Boa, Se7en, and Rain's accents are still too thick. Boa's hype is just in the forums, I don't see anyone besides Asians who already know Boa from Korea actually knowing Boa from her American debut attempt. Rain, I don't know, even his movies were flops. Se7en, no one knows him either. Utada, eh. But whatevers, I wish them all great LUCK!

it hard to predict who will be able to breakthrough the American market, but I for some hate the the way the Korean artists present themselves in America, It like their image is so different and they are not themselves anymore. and beside that I think fangirls are one reason to prevent those artist in succeeding coz they are controlling.
I love hikki but I don't see her succeeding I don't know why I feel this way, at leas she is true for herself.

know what there are alot of great filipino local singer who almost visit every state in the US doin some tour ...... dont know why they arent being recognized....... like Sarah Geronimo who has been to LA, Hawaii, Canada, New York, California, etc etc..every year... i think only Christian de Walden a grammy awardee composer who works with BSB noticed her and help her produce her international album, she even have a duet with Howie Dorough of BSB...... ,(i think there is something goin on in sarah's career.... maybe a US album also???? she got the voice i swear she can mimic a lot of holly singer)

i think boa can make it really big, she's already proven herself with her career in japan and korea. even though she hasn't made a comeback in korea in forever everyone there still knows of her/loves her still.

But aren't BoA's choreographers American? Her dancing style will make her unique among American artists, which is good. It will give her an edge.
