Binge Eating - Does This Affect You & Is This An Eating Disorder Too? One minute there's a packet of biscuits, next minute its gone!

Hi everyone, (sorry if there's already a topic like this by the way)

I know this may sound silly/greedy but I would really love to hear from all of you about this topic!
I think I've come to the conclusion tonight that after many years of over eating for no reason, I am officially a binge eater.
Just now, I ate AT LEAST 10 biscuits, for no reason *blush*. I'm not overweight (maybe in the fat mass though :/) and I'm not depressed.
Over-eating out of boredom... Low sugar levels. Or just plain greed o _ O I have no idea!
I was just wondering if this could be considered an eating disorder too?
Do you know any ways in trying to solve it? (Yeah I know I could just PUT THE BISCUITS DOWN before any of you say wink.gif)
Do any of you guys do this?

lol high five!

i snack when i'm bored. it's just... something to do. haha >__>...
but i DO try to stick to 'healthy' snacks, like fruits & salads. yum!

but in the long run, it's a bad habit. gaining extra weight for no apparent reason other than the lack of something to do... dayum, i'm not even hungry or lacking nutrition or anything!

No. They're just biscuits. As long as you don't eat 10 burgers, I think you're fine.
Probably at least 80% of people snack on junk food when they have nothing else to do.
It's normal if it's not as extreme as snacking on like 10 BOXES of biscuits.

Ewww,, binge eating is terrible, but I have a horrible problem with it. It's always sabotage too, one moment I'm doing awesome, eating right, working out, and then I give in for one thing, and all my resolve crumbles with it. sad.gif I have gained weight. I can't fit into the pants I had a year and a half ago. OFFTOTHEGYM. >:I

i remember i watched this one mystery show where a guy had a case of binge eating disorder (THEN HE GOT KIDNAPPED THE NEXT DAY!) and what they showed as 'binge eating' is going to a buffet and eating straight from the serving trays very quickly like you're a monster, excessive sweating when you're not eating (esp. when you're tied to a chair and a bad guy is taunting you with a cupcake) and yeah..

but i do 'binge eat' when i'm bored sweatingbullets.gif and what you're doing with the biscuits is just overeating, not binging.

Damn I know this friend, she eats a lot when she pms. and When she does have her period she eats even more. her pms usually last about 3weeks. so therefore she is never stop pmsing and conclude that she is always eating. she goes to nuggest to icecream to dumplings then cookies. non stop. its worse than a person that is experiencing high and munchies.
She looks very healthy and good looking too. Gifted

I go through a packet of chocolates and think afterwards "why the hell did I do that for?" I have really bad, uncontrollable cravings for sugar during that time >_<
haha I think my binge eating on other days is actually influenced by my dieting starting a few years back? When you consciously try to impose limits upon your eating, and restrictions from certain foods you love, the desire to eat those foods become bigger and you end up eating more than you planned =( So maybe that's one reason for bingeing
And oh yeah, trust me LOTS of people eat out of boredom, especially females. Leave me in the house for too long and I end up eating everything in the fridge/pantry XD The trick is to distract yourself! =D
Lol I've tried the bingeing on healthy snacks only method as well. Didn't work too well, I don't want fkn celery, I want sugar! So I'd just leave those snacks alone....and just be even more hungry =S Hahahaa

agh. that's me.

if i see food, i'll just devour it. let's just say i eat more with mi eyes than with mi stomach at times. and if i eat a lot of food, it has to be different things [like i can't just eat one kind of food] i'm trying not to be a glut.

whenever i eat something now, i try to eat in portions. also, when i see something i just want demolish.. i think to myself 'okay, you just ate. you're not hungry, you don't need it'. and i just try to resist.

it doesn't affect mi weight or anything either T__T so i feel like it's hurting mi body in some other way.

i eat when i'm bored, sad, or just want it in mi tummy ^^;

unless your throwing up afterwards or eating about 10 biscuits along with another 10 biscuits and like 20burgers on top of that

I used to binge eat all the time (and sometimes still do). I used to eat like a pizza, pasta, cookies, icecream and any other food there was around me for no reason. I'd just sit there and bash. Maybe you're an emotional eater. Do you eat when you're upset/happy/sad/etc.?

In your case it seems fine for now. As long as you're not doing it daily and with larger quantities of food.
If you get a "high" from doing it, and notice you are doing it more often, then you will gain massive weight later on and it'll become a health issue.
I do this too sometimes, especially around my period.

Seriously, I have eaten an entire pack of biscuits in one go, and then looked for something else to eat. XD
I've also eaten a huge bar of chocolate before, which was about 200% of my RDA of saturated fat laugh.gif
It tends to be when I haven't eaten much for a few days (sounds dumb but sometimes I just forget lmfao)
and my body goes. SUGARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR NOMNOMNOMNOMNOM.
And anything in my path with sugar in it, gets eaten. laugh.gif

I tend to be perpetually hungry anyway though, lol.
I get this especially at night though. I just want to eat and eat and eat @_@
I'll eat like, a bowl of cereal first because I know it's low fat.
Then I'll still be hungry and grab a sandwich and a pack of crisps.
Then a yoghurt.
Eventually I'll just go to sleep, just to stop myself eating laugh.gif

Yeah, I always feel like binging excessively during that "time" of the month. I'm not sure why this happens, but I always seem to be wanting to snack on something during that week. Binge eating is an eating disorder. It's similar to bulimia, except there's no purging. Perhaps storing food away from you and keeping them out of your sight would help. And drink plenty of water. Water somewhat keeps my stomach full imo. If this continues, you should definitely see a doctor or therapist.

but usually it's at night, crammingcramming, & i go like
FOOOOOOOOOOD !
& i run downstairs & grab food & eat
& by the fifth time i've gone downstairs, there's nothing to eat. mellow.gif

It depends on you. Has it become a control issue for you? As in... you can't stop when your mind actually wants to. Do you eat till your stomach physically hurts and uncomfortable?

Binge eating, excessive shopping, excessive exercise, excessive working... these activities have become issues of control for many people. Even though these take different forms... but their root causes may be more similar than you think... such as to relieve boredom, loneliness, stress, hurt or anger. These activites become comfort inducing solutions.

But this only becomes a problem if it is excessive and trigger vicious cycles of guilt and relentless binges. If you are physically and psychological trapped and hurt by this habit and can't stop when you want to... then it is a problem.

10 biscuits? That's it? ohmy.gif Okay but yeah, I go through periods of binge eating too. When I start feeling perpetually bloated, that's when I know to stop eating... and I also start running for 2-3 weeks before I get lazy again. I've maintained the same weight for like 3 years so it's not really a problem for me... not yet at least lol.

i was a binger;; i ate when im happy; bored; sad; angry;
i was bullied when i first started kindigarten (i was 4yrs old) then when i was in primary school (reception to Year 5) during my last 2 years of primary school (year 6&7) i became popular cause of my intelligence and my weird humor; once i got into high school all my friends when to differnt ones (year 8 to year 11) it all started again; until my final year of high school year 12 and i didnt bother going to school;;

i was born as a 4kg baby; obese throughout my childhood and being the only asian at school;; i ate; thats all i did, i ate and kept on gaining weight until i reached 110kg and just 19 years old;; my doctor advised me to lose weight cause it was really bad for my health and to control my eating;;; its been almost a month since i started to lose the weight; 2kg gone now another 58kg to go;

This happens to me all the time. I figure its, really unhealthy and I should stop but the food is just so.....iono. addictive. LOL. When there's nothing to do, oh yeah! Lets go find something good to eat. >.>
