I like it! Since I can't afford a s2000 with my college student budget, I'd figure I can afford a Miata. Since my friend works at the Mazda/VW Dealership I dropped by and took a look at the new Miata and I must say the front is so much better looking than the old..especially with the lip. I'd figure this will be a good commuter car as well and a good car to have fun in. I might trade in my GTi for this..
Anyone else took a look at the new Miata? Price isn't bad either, around 20-27k I'm just gonna wait till a good reputable magazine reviews the car and for me to go test drive one.

umm you can get a used s2k for under 20k.....if i were you i'd look for an 03+ so you get the glass rear window, leather center console, and updated oil jets.

yea i like the new miatas, i drove a couple when they first came out, but you would be high ti pay over 20 for one. you can get a pretty new s2k for that budget and its about a million times better. even an older one, ive seen them as low as 12 for higher miles, around 20 you can get some good stuff. if you can go 20-28 you can practically get a new one.

The problem with getting a used s2k is that there are none in Hawaii! I can't get a loan from the bank as my credit is sub par to buy one from a private party. If I could I would! trust me..... But since my friend does work at a Mazda dealership I can pick one up for a nice price.

ship one from ca
believe me it will be worth it. the s2k is miles above the miata. also i prefer the older miata's to the current one, they feel a lot better. if i were you i'd pick up an NB miata and save the rest of the money for an s2k if you really cant get a used. now way i'd pay $20k for miata even if it is new (and i own a miata)

and there are lots more. this took me about a total of 15 seconds to find
get your parents to take a loan and co-sign with them, that way you will build your credit

lol like I said I can't get a straight loan from the bank to buy a private owners car. From teh dealership at least I can finance through the dealership like i do for my GTi. The only dealership that I know that has a S2K in stock is a white one 05 from the Big Island. I would love to get a S2K no doubt, I've always loved it, its my second runner up next to the RX7. As for my parents co-signing, I would hate to ask them to do that as I'm trying to do everything on my own. If they offered to then hell I would take it, but in no way my parents would co-sign for me to get another sports car...especially in this economy. I do love the older Miatas but I need something a bit more reliable and I know most of Hawaii drivers are IDIOTS. I just gotta hope that my friend at the dealership can get a hold of a S2K and hold it for me like he did with my GTi.
BTW Azn Akira, you drove a S2K and own a RX7, how would you compare it against each other? I'd thought I ask a person who drove both cars to give me a quick review.

s2k has a stiffer chassis and quicker turn in, but its more twitchy at the limit
rx7 has more power
personally i'd go with the s2k, i like high revving n/a engines
and again the older miata's are much better and you can get an NB for as little as $5k and they are plenty reliable
